Title: Generations Prize Tournament! ((Interest check - 1v1))
Post by: Tekhead on 2004-08-27, 00:08
I'm considering hosting one of these... would anyone be interested in participating?

Sounds like fun a few conditions though:
1. NO Tabun
2. NO Phoenix
3. :P

You mean:

1. Genialus only.

?

:]
I'd probably join, but as you know, I hate HPB'ing, especially and particularly in 1on1. I've always hated the 'I can easily kick Tab's arse' or 'I owned Tab last night' from people that never played me on equal terms (say, on a LAN) - And I definately want to avoid some kind of virtual dicksize result that way.

Oh no, on the contrary! This tourney I'd be hosting would be open to everyone that wants to participate (excluding myself... sort of a given really). Considering that the prizes would be worth in the ballpark of $400 total, I'd like to see some people fight over it and bring on some good gameplay. =]

1. YES that would be nice... or maybe we could just say that you can't use the railgun? :P

You would never hear me say that, simply because it would never happen.

Generations would be ideal for me on lan since I seem to be VERY lag sensitive, even a ping of about 50 seems to kill my aim completely since I'm used to just point and shoot.
When I started noone said anything about having to predict where my opponent would be later on.

If you can't predict your opponent, how will you know where your crosshairs needs to be? =]

That methodology encompasses over half of my aiming technique!

Even with ping 40 or 20 it's all about prediction. You cannot just trim your crosshair on the target, you have to think about momentum and incentive all the time, especially in 1on1.

I would participate...I'll be in residence at my university pretty soon, connected to the internet on my new PC.  So I'd definitely be able to give it a shot, as long as it's after September 5th.

Sounds like fun to me!  Playing gen is good enough, but for PRIZES!  Joygasm'd!

You know what I think this calls for...

A custom game night! All-class 1v1 action!
