Title: Generations SP Campaign (A little campaign I set up)
Post by: Rubilacxe on 2006-01-23, 22:37
So I've been kicking around this idea for a single player game consisting of Tiers for Generations Arena.  I have come up with a sort of campaign that I think would be interesting if implemented.

You can test it out by entering the levels listed (in order)  and adding the appropiate bots with their respective skill levels.  Choose a class and stick with that class as you go through each "Tier".  Play to 10 frags each game.  Try it with all 5 Generations!

The list is read as follows:

(# of bots and their names) - (Skill level), (Arena/Stage/Level)

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Tier 1 = Earth Soldiers

4 Swines - Level 1, The Doom that Came to Dunwich
3 Razors - Level 2, Guns
Mynx and Hossman - Level 3, Decidia
Sarge - Level 4, Iron Yard

Tier 2 = Doom Warriors

4 Bones' - Level 1, Deadmeat
2 Klesks and Crash - Level 2, Sever the Sphinx
Phobos and Bones - Level 3, The Gantlet
Doom - Level 4, Simply Dead

Tier 3 = Slipgaters

3 Deathknights - Level 1, The Abandoned Base
2 Uriels - Level 2, Gloom Keep
Wrack - Level 3, The Bad Place
Ranger - Level 4, Place of Two More Deaths

Tier 4 = Strogg Troopers

Major and Daemia - Level 2, The Slimy Place
2 TankJrs - Level 3, The Pits
Bitterman and Stripe - Level 4, The Warehouse
Grunt - Level 5, Return to The Edge

Tier 5 = Arena Gladiators

2 Orbbs - Level 3, Liquid Carbon
Hunter - Level 4, Scrap Metal ][
2 Sorlags - Level 4, Overwhelming Hostility
Visor - Level 5, H2SO4

Tier 6 = Xaero

Team Match
Red: Sarge, Doom, Ranger, and Grunt (all level 4s) vs You (Blue Team)
Eternal Arenas

Xaero - Japanese DM
Level 5
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Tell me what you think.  Especially you guys working for Wirehead

Good fun.

I see one flaw, which should speak for itself and which I therefore will quote without commenting on it:

"2 Orbbs, [..]"

This is actually quite similar to what I have in mind for Gen's "Single Player" mode.  :thumb:

Phoenix:  How similar?  Would you swap out any levels/bots with others?  Switch around the order?  Etc.

I dont like to see 4 bones or 4 crashes in a game.
its like uniforms in school. everyone looks the same.

For The Bad Place, I'd put like 3 bots on there so the map plays how it's supposed to... a fast and furious frag fest with lots of gibs and bodies... adding on to that, if 'Jaeger' is still planned, don't forget to be adding her in there somewhere.

Yea.. I still lurk the forums.. hiding out in the shadows all sneaky like. :ninja:

If I may be so bold :P

I've created botfiles for all of the extra VQ3 skins (Id, Flisk, Yuriko, Zael, etc) and I was thinking, rather than using multiples of the same bot, eg 2 Klesks, how's about Klesk and Flisk, Uriel and Zael, etc? As for Strogg, don't forget Tab's excellent Rampage and Recon skins ;)

Also, for the 1v1 against Ranger, I'd go for Dark Zone  :slippy_thumb:

BTW Scrap Metal ][ is more of a Strogg map.

EDIT: One other thing, you can't have a Doom tier without Loonies  :rules:

(BUMP) For anyone who's interested. It's a simple file that uses existing botfiles, simply because I couldn't be arsed doing anything more substantial at the time :smirk: Anyway, here it is:

I'm perhaps noob to this forum, but not a noob to quake, so... I'll just cut to the chase without introducing me and all that society's "normal" crap:

The single player addon for generations mod should be simply... SKIRMISH.

Yes skirmish, we have all experienced the perfect, idsofware's "tier" singleplayer mod for quake, I think you should only do a greate SKIRMISH SP addon for generations, with perfect bot function with their guineus quick chat's.
After all, generations is a mod, a multiplayer experience, I think a perfect skirmish SP is more than perfect for generation's, with a full cycle cabability ofcourse unlike in the original quake3 u had to choose the map with ur consol.

Just my 0.00002 cent's

Another little idea popped into my head while playing SP the other day

Given Gen's back story, how's about:

TIER 0 - INTRODUCTION
Altarbeta (http://www.planetquake.com/quake3/features/lotw/dm-01-05-28.shtml), - vs Id?

BTW Speaking of
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
, it'd be great if Voidanity was made an official game mode ;)
