Title: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: Bald&Sexy on 2003-05-27, 19:11 im almost afraid 2 ask this....... but whatz a 'LICH'?
i heard sum D&D guyz talkin bout it, and it thought sum 1 here might know =\ Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: ConfusedUs on 2003-05-27, 22:27 In D&D lich is a spellcaster who has sacrificed his soul in order to live forever as an undead. They get all sorts of bonuses to their stats, as well as all the normal immunities that undead get (immune to sleep, poison, paralysis, anything requiring a fortitude save unless it affects objects, critical hits, sneak attacks, etc).
In addition, even if you destroy its body, it reforms in 1 to 10 days unless you destroy the object that contains the lich's soul, which could be damn near anything, anywhere. A smart lich hides its phylactery well, as it is his only real weakness. Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: Demonwench on 2003-05-28, 00:32 Wow Con...you're a nerd!! I knew vaguely what a Lich was but all that detail!

Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: dev/null on 2003-05-28, 14:16 Speaking in WarCraft III terms there Twilight, I always pick the Dreadlord (I love Vampiric Aura and Inferno) first... I have never won a match though, so lol :D
Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: Vadertime on 2003-05-31, 05:44 How about Dungeon Siege, have you tried it? And while Con is at the peak of his nerdiness for now, where did Tolkien come up with a "Balrog"? Some things can be found in a dictionary but not Balrogs. In the Fellowship of the Ring movie it was a huge devil, but were they in any mythology or did JRR have a few bottles of Jack and think up the name and idea? Also Dev/Null, have you seen any schoolkids bound for OZ lately? :D

Post by: Vadertime on 2003-06-02, 09:18 I used TibEd to make a new rules Ini file for RA2. If you saw it you'd never look at the game the same way again. I added some really potent new vehicles, infantrymen, and weapons. One of my favorite ones is the Soviet Batteryboat. Basicly a converted cruise ship with 12 120mm tank cannons in the sides and a flak gun on the top deck. The stupid AI won't build them or attack them because they're clones of the cruise ship. Sadly there's no new artwork yet and many bugs still.
Nobody new what a Balrog was did they? Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: Twilight on 2003-06-02, 09:30 bw>ra2

Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: Vadertime on 2003-06-08, 09:23 CON! How can you get zergs on RA2. And what is bw? Please refrain from using so many acronyms, I have enough trouble remembering the names of all the junk on the market as it is. To counter the 6 demo trux with Ra2 stuff, if your on a map with water and have access to a chronosphere, use the chronoshift to grab as many trucks as possible and dump them in the lake. If you can't do that, try to bust them miles away from your base so the iron curtain won't do much good if they have it. On my ini file, just build as many Frog attack planes as possible before any trucks can hit you and start leveling your opponent's base. These planes work great because they carry 4 guided blimp bombs. It only takes one plane to pop a construction yard. Have y'all folks seen Kohan? It lets you build dreadlords.
Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: Daedalus on 2003-06-08, 17:41 damn, i thought my strategy was unbeatable
little buggers :) Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: Vadertime on 2003-06-09, 08:38 I've found what works better is to send your trucks one at a time from a point very close to your opponent's base but not in range. The first truck weakens the defenses, the second blows them away, the third can pop several power plants, the fouth can burn any weakened buildings, and so fourth. The trouble is getting all those trucks built and escorted into place. Now back to the original subject, where did Orcs come from? Did Tolkien fart them out of his rear end, or did somebody else dream them up first. Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, Imps, and Ogres seem a lot alike. They're all balding, humanoid things of varying sizes and personalities. So are they all related species or what?
Title: Re: whatz a 'LICH'? Post by: Twilight on 2003-06-12, 22:43 The Lich is now the undisputed king of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. Thanks to the new pathing (which is overall 100x better than War3), Frost Nova hits HELLA more units than it used to. A Lich with a mana pot can kill 10 footie by himself, it's nuts.
