Title: Con's reading list: updated (Song of Ice and Fire)
Post by: ConfusedUs on 2004-02-27, 18:12
I would like to update my reading list to include the following

Song of Ice and FIre
A series by George R. R. Martin

Includes:
A Game of Thrones
A Clash of Kings
A Storm of Swords

I'm about halfway through the second book, and the series is just incredible. There's a very rich, vibrant world with believable characters and interesting locations.

As long as it doesn't go the way of The Wheel of Time, the third book should be just as good as the first two.

Have you read anything by Gene Wolfe?

I have had to order his last 4 books from the states, but I can recommend anything by him, fav being the 'long sun' series. I must have read them (all 4) 4 times now. I've never met anyone else thats read his stuff.

Might I suggest Cat's Cradle, by Kurt Vonnegut? It's a fairly short book, but thoroughly enjoyable. I had just read it a few weeks ago, and I can say that Bokononism (http://www.cs.uni.edu/~wallingf/personal/bokonon.html) certainly has a few nifty rituals, the Boko-maru specifically
