Title: Another help topic (Quite irritating error)
Post by: Lopson on 2005-07-28, 11:21
So there I was, booting up Counter Strike : Source when suddenly, the game gimes me an error that says "DirectX 7.0 card required". I tried to reinstall the game, but no good. The most strange thing is that I HAVE a directx 7.0 card, a GeForce 4 MX 440 64MB. Do you know why is this happening?

Counter Strike : Source
:offtopic:  you do know you can get banned for using words like that over here .  :offtopic:

( updating drivers might help , and i think the card is a wee bit weak for that 'program of evil")

In the "Generations Arena" forum, yes, I guess I would deserve a temp ban.

I updated the drivers this weekend. The most curious thing is that i have CS : S since the release of the beta and it used to work. The game just starts reseting the video settings while booting the game ("Changing to safe mode"), 'till one point that it just gives that message.

Your Computer obviously has good taste, Kruz. it would rather crash than play CS!  :thumb:

It's not that bad. I like Valve games, what I don't like is Steam. Besides, I spent 75 ? on the Collector's Edition, so it would only be nice if it worked.

Usually I offer tips on everything, but I won't help with CounterStrike.  Odds are it's the game that's buggy anyway.

I wish I could help you out Kruzader, but I don't have Counter-Strike: Source.  Your best bet would probably be to check out the Planet Half-Life forum and see if anybody else had a similar issue.  (There probably are better forums to ask on, but I wouldn't know really.)  Failing that, try futzing with the resolution or make sure the CS: Source folder is completely deleted before reinstalling it.  Sounds more like some wierd issue with an old config file.

You see that's the wied thing. I deleted the config files, even the config files from directx, but no good. I'll  try e-mail steam.
