Title: Modelling Thread (The place to post your models)
Post by: Daedalus on 2003-01-26, 22:52
Seeing as we dont have a modelling forum, i thought this would be a good idea.
Heh, i'll kick start the thread off with:

*fanfares* The Quake2 Railgun Slug Box!!! *fanfares*

Not quite finished but you get the idea

(Note: Refresh if you get an error loading the page)

EDIT: They should change this into the official editing forum

a modelling forum? this is not a skinners or modellers community :) - this is wirehead studios! you can show of non-gen related or inofficial stuff in the off-topic forums, which were made for that exact purpose ;)

Map models can probably best be made in cooperation with the mappers, since my map models have hardly been used (maybe it's just because they are shabby - but still ;))

a reminder:

http://www.planetquake.com/tabun/img/skin/...tabcorpse_1.jpg (http://www.planetquake.com/tabun/img/skin/gena/doom_tabcorpse_1.jpg) - modelled by 3dioot
http://www.planetquake.com/tabun/img/skin/...m_tabpillar.jpg (http://www.planetquake.com/tabun/img/skin/gena/doom_tabpillar.jpg)

I think it would be cool to make a big set of map-models (chandeliers, corpses, lights and decorations), and get a big set for each generations class. They could be downloadable on the site to encourage 3rd party mappers, eventually.
If anyone wants me to skin stuff like that, and it's any good, don't hesitate to ask - it's the diversion that keeps the job cool ;]

If I knew anything about how to export models from 3dsmax into MD3s I'd make the Doom Torch.

*cough* I'm using your pillar in my next one, well i'm using the pillar as a torch holder

I still think renaming this forum into a general editing forum, since all of this is going towards generations anyway, is probibly a good idea

*agrees with LG* your sig pic turns me on somewhat bys, especially if i can only see it out of the corner of my eye :D

Tab: if there should be no skinning/modelling forums why is there a mapping forum? modelling is even better than mapping :)

Dev: i dunno about 3D$ MAX, you'd have to ask tabun, but i know how to do it for Milkshape
(points at the use of $ instead of S    :D   )
