Title: Best ID single player (what do you think?)
Post by: OmEgA-X on 2003-12-31, 23:56
just wanted to know what everyone thought...they're all good games. but if i had to decide..i know i'd pick doom because...imma doomer! the doom series always kept me at the edge of my seat...and what is better than mowing down hell knights with a chaingun?

2nd best would probably quake 1. it was an all around good game (to me). definately and up in gfx (GLQuake) and it was just fun..the only thing i really didnt like about it was the end boss..after making your way through tons of shamblers, those spider like things that shoot spike grenades at u..and mutants that wanna eat you alive, and to find a big TREE LOOKING THING!? =/ i wanted to cry.

quake 2 was also good..i liked the mission based levels and the weapons. <3 the chaingun and rail.

what do you think..?

Doom is still my favorite.  The original Doom.  I still remember the old Shareware 1.1 version that crashed every other level with a Zmalloc failure.  I loved those creepier levels.  I can't wait to see Doom 3!

As much as I love the Doom series and the Doom class in Generations, I'm going to have to pick Quake 1 as my favorite Single Player.  Why?  I'm not quite sure to be honest...  I think I'm partial to Quake simply because I got my hand on a copy of it before I did Doom.  Both are great though.  (I think I may also be a little partial to Quake 1 because at my first LAN, the only thing we could all play was Quake.  Quake Co-Op for the first time with a couple of your buddies is truly a magical thing.)

Quake2.  Simplistic like Doom, but still fun. And the final boss battle is awesome :thumb:

Quake2, because it is there that the modding community really started to bloom :]

Quake - nothing beats sitting in the dark @ 2 in the morning with Quake on your screen and NIN in your ears.  Though PSX Doom came pretty close with its creepy ass soundtrack.

A tie between Doom and Quake1

I always liked the gameplay of Quake 1 more (it was legitimately scary wayy back when), but I liked the Doom Map designs
