The US Presidential race is over. John Kerry called Bush shortly after 11:00 am, and offered his concession speech just after 1:00 PM eastern. Bush won both the electoral and popular votes, with 274 electoral votes confirmed (Races in Wisconson, Iowa, and New Mexico have not yet been officially called). Bush won the popular vote with 58,884,582 (51% total), and had the highest popular votes of any president in US history. For full results, consult your preferred news site.

Even though for the most part I'm nuetral and indifferent, I found myself somewhat silently rooting for Bush just because of all the college students blindly voting Kerry out of peer pressure, or because "war is bad". If you vote one side or the other after thinking about it, then fine, good for you, good job, regardles of which side you voted for, but I can't stand all these kids who pick sides without really looking at the issues, just because it's cool to be a politically rebelious, anti-establishment college student. If Kerry had won, they'd be voting against him in 2008 just because he's the current president and you gotta "screw The Man".

I voted against Bush simply because the top diplomat of the country shouldn't be known for also butchering the English language during their speeches.

I voted for bush because i didnt want the united states to become the united socialist soviet republics of america. I think kerry is a socialist and i dont want socialism for america. If anyone else wants it for themselves that fine i just dont want it here.

A little more on-topic, here's something I find quite interesting.

It's a county-by-county map of how the voting went in the US Presidential race.
In addition to the Presidency, the Republican party picked up 4 senate seats, 6 house seats, and picked up governerships in Indiana, Missouri, and Utah. One of the senate seats lost by the Democrats was the senate minority leader, Tom Daschle. Also, for the 11 states with gay marriage bans on the ballots, all 11 states passed them with a fairly large margin.
It was more than just the presidency, the entire balance of power in government has shifted more towards the Republicans. I'm curious as to what everyone thinks about all of this.

That map is not accurate. Ulster County in New York, which includes my hometown, went for Kerry, not for Bush.
Quite honestly, it seems that this election was won based on moral (read: religious) values, and not any of the real issues. This seriously bothers me, especially when the man elected claims to have his position ordained by God.

Pimping the Lord's name and being against gays appear to be the main reasons Bush was re-elected. Even after he was proven a liar, ruined some of the economy, started an illegal war, and sporked up international relations, it puzzles me why he was.

Makou: Indeed, you are correct for your county. I just checked Ulster County's governmental page. There's always going to be a few errors in something like this as long as data is still trickling in, and unfortunately Usa Today hasn't seen fit to update the page with final results from every county.
