Seriously, my computer seems to be dying or something. I can't play Diablo II because of a video error and now I can't get anything to be heard.


Somehow, it just, commited suicide or something (since I haven't been using it since monday).

Any help?

It's kind of hard to help when we know nothing about your system or what it's doing (or not doing).  Is it dead as in not bootable, or just having sound and video problems?

Sorry 'bout that:

Processor: Intel P4 with 2.88Ghz
RAM:640 mb DDR (Weird number for RAM memory these days)
Video Card: ATi Sapphire Radeon X1600 pro
Sound Card: VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller
Mother Board: ASUS P4V8X-X

Although the Audio problem has been fixed, it's still odd that without any use over a week can cause an Audio loss, besides from running a little worse than usual.

Dying actually.

I'll try to install the latest drivers for everything, see if that works.

You might also check your audio cables to make sure they're not damaged, or have dirty contacts.  Sometimes the contacts just need to be cleaned.  I recommend rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip or a soft cotton cloth.  Hopefully that's all it is with the audio.

Try using the computer without the sound card and see if there's any change in its performance. If there is, it might be a hardware problem. If there isn't, then it still might be a hardware problem.
Also, check with taskman if there's a program eating away CPU/RAM. Sometimes, it's just a simple program leaking one of those, other times it's the goddamned svchost eating resources like a hungry monster.

Thanks for the answers and support guys, although it was just the drivers (sorry for the worry [which oddly rhymes])

The drivers screwed themselves up somehow, but nothing a new patch couldn't fix.
