At what age did you begin video gaming?
I was playing joust when I was 5.

What influence first got you into video gaming?
I don't remember. I think it was the pretty colors.

How long have you been gaming?
15+ years

What genre of games do you prefer to play?
FPS
Strategy
Tabletop RPGs
Action
Puzzle

Approximately how many hours per week do you spend playing game
5-10, depending on real life conditions. I'd say 7 on average.

Do you prefer to play single-player games, or multi-player games and why?
Both. I prefer single player for the stories, but multiplayer so I can keep playing over and over again.

Briefly describe why you like video gaming in general.
It's fun. Plain and simple. You can get on your computer or console, and go to other worlds and do things you can't in real life. Good Open-Ended games are like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" story, where your actions have a direct effect on what happens later on. Games, to me, are a way to relax and have fun. It's little different from reading a book (which I do VERY often) or going to the bar. Everyone has their own ways to relax. I play games.

What activities do you participate in other than gaming?
Depends on what you mean by actvities. If you mean what are my other pasttimes, well...
I read, I swim, I spend time with my new wife, I do the occasional chore, I spend time with my friends, I play D&D on Saturdays, and I chat online.

Do you prefer to play single-player games, or multi-player games and why?
 - Multi-player. Definitely multi. With single-player games, you've got a linear (or rather, programmed for those games with multiple endings and whatnot...) story line, which makes replay value very low since you can predict what'll happen. However, in multiplayer you're facing other human players, who are capable of coming up with an indefinite variety of tactics and strategies for any particular game (as long as the game allows for them - I'm referring to GOOD games), making the game's replay value and its fun factor higher for a longer period of time than single-player games.

Briefly describe why you like video gaming in general.
 - It's partly like interactive roleplaying. Also I get to blow a bunch of sh*t up  Sipgate - Evil

What activities do you participate in other than gaming?
 - Not much other than school, work & excersize of some form. The one thing that a lot of games take up is valuable time, which many cannot afford... infact my weekly gaming hours have dropped significantly after I got out of High School, and are still on the decline.

I started...I can't remember specific dates but I was probably  11-15 years old.

My friends and father got me into video gaming.

I've been gaming for  10-15 years.

I like Strategy, Puzzle, RPGs, some FPS.  And board games, whatever category they're in.

The amount of time i spend gaming varies week to week, due to my schedule.  It might be just 2 hours, it might be up to 20.

I prefer multiplayer games.  The more the merrier I say.  It's always more fun when there's others about.

I like video games because they're fun.  They kill time, they're nicely donee (eye candy), it's a great stress reliever, you meet interesting people, it further develops hand-eye coordination, increases your typing speed, teaches teamwork and leadership in some competative games.  I get to play with my friends across country.  And beat them.  '-)

Other activities:  Reading, drawing, pen and paper RPG, writing, TV, movies, chatting (on and offline), and critters.

Hmm, I like to go into detail, so please forgive that I don't just put X's in the more simple questions.

At what age did you begin video gaming?
Hummm, tough to say. My first encounter with a computer game was at around the age of... 3 or four years - it didn't last long because our computer died. My memory is pretty hazy on this, but I know I loved it.
I didn't get the chance to play computer games again until I was around 10 I think. I'll say 0-5 years.

What influence first got you into video gaming?
No idea since I was so young when I got introduced to the concept - it could either have been my parents wanted to give their kids a little something to entertain themselves with or it could've been my older siblings. I'm gonna guess it was my parents.

How long have you been gaming?
Looong time. I've played games steadily since I was around ten and I'm 23 now. (But as I said, I first tried games at the age of 3 and actually I had a few tries elsewhere until we got a PC when I was ten). I'll say 13-15 years

What genre of games do you prefer to play?
First person shooters, definitely.
I liked RTS games when I was in my teens and fighting games when I was ten, but today it's all about gunnin' down uglies from a first person viewpoint. I do try other genres from time to time though.

Approximately how many hours per week do you spend playing games?
I really don't know - some weeks I play a lot, other weeks, like this one, I barely touch a game. I'll go for the 7-8 hours per week since that seems like a nice avarage. It usually gets very extreme whenever I buy a new game that's really cool, but that doesn't happen very often (that I buy any new games at all - I'm very strict about what I get).

Do you prefer to play single-player games, or multi-player games and why?
Single player games by far - please don't kill me  Oh My F'ing Gawd
I like sp games the best because they provide me with lots of inspiration to feed my imagination (I like this a lot) and because I love to be immersed whether the storyline is good or bad. I also like sp the best because I'm not a very competitive person (like people who like playing against each other in mp games the most).

Briefly describe why you like video gaming in general.
It's like visiting a whole new world, plus you forget your real life problems when you need to think positively - that's good. On top of it, it's simply very entertaining.

What activities do you participate in other than gaming? Uhm, are you referring to hobbies? I like to go visit friends (most of my friends are non-gamers), sit and do pencil drawings, sit and work on art in art programs and occasionally I go out jogging (typically with a friend). Do these answers cut it?

:o Crap I hope I'm not too late in posting this but...

At what age did you begin video gaming?
x 6-10 years old

I'm fairly certain on this one.  Could have been age 5 but if it was, I was extremely close to turning 6.

What influence first got you into video gaming?
x Other (please specify)

Good question.  I have absolutely no idea.  I imagine it was curiosity though.

How long have you been gaming?
x 13-15 years

What genre of games do you prefer to play?
x FPS (First Person Shooters)
x Strategy
x Action
x Adventure
x Puzzle/Board/Card
x RPG
x Other (please specify)

The Music/Rhythm genre Slipgate - Tongue  (Um Jammer Lammy, Rez, DDR, ect.)

Approximately how many hours per week do you spend playing games?
x 5-6 hours

I'm going to have to go with this one.  As much as I would like to, I don't get around to playing my games that often either due to poor planning, circumstances, or just somehow, loss of time Slipgate - Tongue  Though ever so often, I go on huge gaming binges.  During those I get close to playing 20 hours a week.  If I'm at a LAN, forget about it, that's 20 hours right there just in the first day. Slipgate - Smile

Do you prefer to play single-player games, or multi-player games and why?
Single player, without a doubt.  A good single player game is like making sweet, passionate love to all of your senses simultaneously and then having your brain melt away with all your troubles as you are overcome by thousands of emotions that you rarely feel in real life in a single, beautiful symphonic orgasma.  (Had to add the "a".  Slipgate - Grin)  Multi-player games give me the rush and get me in the "mood" so to speak, but single player games are my true love and will always be.  It's one thing to read a story.  It's an entirely different thing to live that story.  Slipgate - Smile

What activities do you participate in other than gaming?
A lot.  I really enjoy designing and creating games, writing, and even drawing from time to time.  I also enjoy watching anime and just about anything that's to be had online, flash animation primarily though.  I enjoy reading and tinkering with things though I wish I was more mechanically inclined.  And then I really like finding out more information about things I'm interested in.

I hope that helps you out.  Now I need to go to bed Slipgate - Smile  I am going be dead tired at college tomorrow but fug it, it was worth it.  It always is.  My body just refuses to accept the fact that it only needs sleep when my brain tells it, it does.  Cheers to all those who work hard and play hard. Slipgate - Tongue

/me passes out.

At what age did you begin video gaming?
0-5 years old. I started when I was 2 years old, or so I've been told by my parents. Apparently it was Pac-Man fever baby! Slipgate - Smile

What influence first got you into video gaming?
Other. Since I started at 2, I can't really explain. Now from a date I CAN remember, it was all about the graphics... the awesome 16 colors and square people walking across the screen were awesome. Slipgate - Laugh

How long have you been gaming?
16-18 years. Started at 2... am 20 years old... simple math. Slipgate - Smile

What genre of games do you prefer to play?
_X_ FPS (First Person Shooters)
_X_ Strategy
_X_ Action

__ Adventure
__ Sports
__ Puzzle/Board/Card
__ Learning
_X_ RPG
__ Other (please specify)

Approximately how many hours per week do you spend playing games?
13+ hours. EASILY beat 13 hours there... nothing to do out here at the campus.

Do you prefer to play single-player games, or multi-player games and why?
Is both an answer? I like single player games for the story and being able to work at my own speed. But I like multiplayer as well because others are involved... Multi/Single player also depends on the type of game for me. Most RPGs work better when I play them single player, unless it's an MMORPG... whereas FPS games get most of their push in the multiplayer area, especially after beating the game once.

Briefly describe why you like video gaming in general.
Because it's entertaining, unless it's a crappy game. Also serves as a way of passing the time.

What activities do you participate in other than gaming?
Chatting (online mostly), reading, drawing, hiking... even made a q3 map once!
-------------------------------------------
Hope it helped... and if I'm late with my response, then oh well. HeadBanging

At what age did you begin video gaming?
I really can't say - It must have been somewhere before my 10th birthday, but everything gets fuzzy that far back. I think I was human back then, but I can't recall much. One of the first games I remember playing is 'Snake' on an Atari workstation.

What influence first got you into video gaming?
Other (please specify) - I was exploring. That is to say -in the light of my previous answer- I assume I was. No-one around in the family played and I had no friends. Or perhaps I did.. again- I don't remember. :]

How long have you been gaming?
Assuming I started around the age of 8 - 23-8 = 15 years.

What genre of games do you prefer to play?
FPS's are my favourite by far. They allow for the most immersive gaming imo. Other than that, I've been known not to break things while playing action, puzzle, adventure and RPG games.
No wait, I broke my knuckles on the wall (utter frustration) by playing too much Nethack - but I love the game, so that doesn't count.

Approximately how many hours per week do you spend playing games?
It entirely depends on what I call my current passion. Sometimes I spend 10 hours a day skinning or modelling, sometimes I spend lots of time makeing some poor gal's life miserable, sometimes I play an awful lot of games, sometimes I actually sleep and eat.. It happens. Let's say.. at least 5+ hours, at max 40.

Do you prefer to play single-player games, or multi-player games and why?
Multi-player. As much as I hate most human beings, I am still intrigued and amused by their antics. Although I usually take offense too easily, constant shouts of 'sporking newbie' (cs), 'camper' - 'quad  whore!' (q3a) and 'bloody tit' (twister) keep amazing me. I simply can't get the fun out of a game on my own. AI is not dumb enough to simulate real people yet.

Briefly describe why you like video gaming in general.
They're a way to kill time. They can be called 'sports' officially. You get to kill people in a legit way. It sure as hell beats education & work. It poses an armchair-challenge, so to speak.

What activities do you participate in other than gaming?
I won't pretend to have an 'active lifestyle' as some 'orrible people put it, but I hang out with my friends lots. Usually to watch them play games, but that's besides the point.

Edit: I just noticed my 'sporking' turned into a 'sporking' - are we that soft-arsed here? Hmm.. somewhat disappointed at my favourite mod team ;] Oh well, not everyone can have forii with balls, I always say..
