That's true, too.  But in most cases the easement was there long before the trees were.  Most of the time, it's not like the power lines just roll in suddenly one day. (though I've seen that happen before, too).

If the topic is Californians being insane than it is perfectly on-topic. I also read somewhere that the person who wrote that lives in the bushes and smears chocolate all over her face and is popular in Bolinas, which is a sort of hippy liberal retirement community. The residents of Bolinas brought the letter up as a referendum and for God only knows what reason, approved it (why? The letter makes no sense!).

Californians are definitely insane.
