The movie is a continuation of the story of Riddick, who was a prisoner (and one of the few survivors) in the movie Pitch Black.  Pitch Black wasn't that great a movie to me, although Riddick as being the "bad guy" was actually likeable to a degree.  As far as I know the Chronicles of Riddick are about a malevolent race of space-faring religious zealots who are pretty much undefeatable.  When they come, you convert or face extinction.  Riddick is the only one who stands up to them.  That's what I've gathered from the previews and snippets I've seen here and there.  The special effects look very good, so I'm hoping there's a good story in there to back those up as well. its after pitch black? i thought it was like a prequel of sorts, i wouldve enjoyed that more.. showing us how he ended up on that prison ship.. etc
