I've seen shows on Animal Planet before where they've had to surgically remove a ton of golf balls from a lab before. It's amazing what animals sometimes end up ingesting. Such as the iguana who ate over a dollar's worth of coins. HA !

Title: Re: Dog eats 28 golf balls Post by: l4mby on 2004-04-25, 21:24 Well, if you think about it ... dogs in general, especially before days of domestication, would often eat huge pieces of meat w/o chewing in order to get enough to eat. Dogs and humans aren't exactly the same in that aspect. Just b/c humans can't swallow golfballs (altho, I'm sure there's a couple that possibly could do it) doesn't mean that dogs can't. As humans, we're more dependent on chewing our food 1st before swallowing. That's not exactly the case w/ dogs. :)

I've seen x-rays of a great dane that had eaten a small statue of Micky Mouse that had been stuck in his stomach for almost 2 years. *shakes her head* At least the dog wasn't obstructed. That's baaaaaaaad.
