Title: Need some artistic advice
Post by: Moshman on 2005-04-29, 20:14
I attached an image to this post.

Can anyone tell me how I can add a bit of rust to the text.

and BTW does that stone texture I made look out of place?

I don't know what but i think i should change something , something feels wrong .

maybe its the letters that are to flat .

i would say the edges of the rocks are possibly a little too clean cut, i would try to make them blend into their back ground a little more and make the curve less smooth.

but its very large, so if its going to be shrunk it might not make much difference

Next time, upload the image somewhere, and post a ubb-url link instead... this disrupts the forum layout a bit too much.

On the image, first off (I hope it's intentional): The correct spelling is 'medieval'. If it's a pun for something or other, I probably fail to get it.

Next, I agree that the background texture features a bit prominently, detracting from the text. Either make the letters jump out with a more distinct edge, or make them contrast with the background in some other way (by making the latter fuzzy, like Damager suggests). If the text is not meant to stand out, keep it as is.

Other than those things: looking spiffy to me :]

Rocks look cool, however the why you have designed Midieval (Should really be Medieval)

looks kinda Nordic,

other than that it's pretty darn cool,

Indeed an improvement. I do think the key issues haven't really been addressed, but this alternative approach works.
One note though: if you're talking about 'artistic nature' of any sort, (lens) flares are a big no-no :]
