I should have to disagree, I simply cannot fathom that Depp, who respectively is an amazing character actor, can play the role as well as Manson. He just lacks the creepy/cool vibes that are needed for such a role, truly Gene Wilder portrayed it amazingly and I really can't think anyone could live up to him or the character quite like Manson.

I think Depp can pull it off. Like you said, he is a very good character actor.

Hell, he pulled off the pirate act REALLY well. :D

I dunno, I still plan on going to see it. I loved the original as a kid.

Anyone can play a pirate, they're drunken, dirty, wear too much eye make-up and use campy tag lines, just like any random guy you could find inside any night club's goth night.

Right, which is surely why he wasn't chosen, as it is easier to roll over and take the easy way out than to go with what would have been, in my opinion, a truly superior performer for this role and deal with all the whiners.

Nah, most of them are Robert Smith wanna be's, the mansonite kiddies usually don't stay long, they all have bed-times and curfew's to adhere to.

I have known about this film for quite a while now, and must say that I'm supremely disappointed that they decided against Manson. While I have enjoyed nearly everything Johnny Depp has done, Manson simply embodies the very aura one would hope for out of a darker Willy Wonka. Manson had put a lot of though into the role as well... I remember reading an interview where he compared Willy Wonka to Satan. Though that would only solidify the accusations that he has a one-track mind, his reasoning for saying such seemed more than justifiable (as it is with nearly everything he says). :evil:

In the least, I would hope that Hollywood (Manson?s movie; similar to Pink Floyd ? The Wall in concept, as I understand) can find some way to be released soon.

I would watch this movie only if the blueberry girl actually WAS juiced.
