Well, John Doe is the new Fox sci-fi show, from the same people that created the X-Files. It's about a guy who knows everything and solves mysteries, but he doesn't know anything about his past.
I actually thought it could have been a worthy successor, up until that moment in the last episode, where the protagonist is announced to be a mystical being.

I'm too lazy to explain it all. Find a website or something.

Actually, if anything it sounds like the plot is from the kind of show that would follow a storyline that would go something like this:

John Doe doesn't know who he is.  In actuality he's part of a top-secret government experiment in genetic engineering and/or cloning (codenamed Phoenix) and somehow either escaped or was lost by accident.  If not, he's "gone wrong" and now his creators are scrambling to correct the problem behind the scenes, usually by terminating the experiment.  He's stalked by some mysterious assassin and/or aided by a stranger of whom he's never met nor knows anything about.  Along the way he starts to unravel the mystery of who he is and find clues to a darker conspiracy that only he can unlock and the more he finds out the more the danger increases.  One mystery ultimately leads to another, and so on and so forth, until the final episode which makes absolutely no sense and is a huge anti-climax for the audience.

At least, that's how I would sum up how I think this series is set up.  Let's see how much on the mark I am with this cliche prediction of the plotline of a show I've never seen.

Sounds like the plot for "The Pretender" and about 10 other shows, so you're probably safe assuming that. ;)
