This happened to me a few weeks back. Picture the scene - it's D2M1 and you're playing as random class. You get fragged and respawn as an Arena Gladiator right beside the BFG pool. There are other players on either side of you. Do you:

A. Run away hoping that the respawn protection doesn't wear off before you get a lightning bolt up yer jacksie,
B. Grab it and fire off a few warning shots to get the approaching hordes to fall the kcuf back,
C. Grab it and fire off enough blasts to clear the area and go and get another weapon,
D. SPAM SPAM SPAM!!!!!
E. Other

I'll wait for a few replies before I reveal what I did.

I'd have to go for:
F. Type /gib and hopefull respawn as a REAL class.

The answer... is obvious.

D) - SPAM SPAM SPAM

I also use forks when I eat pasta.

G) Grab the BFG, gib everything that's near me and then gib myself and change to Earth.

Definetly G)

H.) SPAM SPAM SPAM until I run out of ammo, then type /gib in the console and hope to the Gods I spawn as a class I'm accually good with.

Actually I did C, but I got some wise-ass giving me the "GG BFG" lark. Just no pleasing some people, is there??

Then the guy needs to learn how to play.

May I ask you something? What would you do if you were the only blue guy against 7 red bots? Would you:

1. Kill'em all 'till there's nothing left of them.
2. Run like hell and shoot only the guys that come near you.
3. PANIC!!!!!
4. Play in sneaky mode and shoot the enemy silently when they're alone.
5. Start killing them with the berserk guns.

I choose number 4. Of course that they're situations that i have to choose 3 (this happens when i spot 5 doommers with Combat Shotgun or when i spot 3 slipgaters with RL)

To the original question, C is the most logical answer.  I guarantee you that had you not picked up the BFG and fragged someone with it that same person would have fragged you and taken the BFG himself.  We all hate the Arena BFG, but it's not like you pitched a tent near the respawn point or anything so don't beat yourself up over it.

4. is actually how I practice, although the higher the difficulty, the more likely I am to do 3. Particularly if I'm Earth and they're all Slippy.

And Pho, cheers for that. Camping was never really my thing anyway. I could never remember the tin opener ...

WOW! you can do that? Does that work like ekstra armor or something?

for the original question, shoot to kill! And then if i have some ammo left I'll go to spamming...

Option M) Use the secret Melee attack on the Q3BFG! Find a Beserk pack and go to town!!

Heh, don't worry too much about the morons yelling 'GG BFG' and stuff like that right away. Everytime I shoot one (1) ball of BFG, I get that. It's sort of a Pavlov effect. It especially affects the dorkwads that don't know how our 'rules' work :p

Definately that one. It's how I play as Arena if I get the BFG. I only pull out the Arena BFG if I see a huge melee going on or if I'm significantly outgunned.

Or if Pho shows up. He dies first, because I don't like to die myself. ;)

Definately that one. Pho calls me a sneaky bastard for good reason. I've won tons of 5 versus 1 matches by being a sneaky bastard.

Yes indeed.  Con is extremely sneaky, especially when he's trying to kill me first.  I'm more of a run'n'gun in-your-face kind of fighter.  Con lays back and picks you off from a distance.  I'm well known for my suicidal glory charges in RA2.  I always died playing RA2, so I figured I'd rather go down shoving a rocket up someone's nose for my  team than get railed from across the map while standing there like a dumbass. :surprise:

But I like railing those dumbasses from across the map....

All the more reason for me to not stand there like one then!  :D

Oh come on, Gladiator isn't that bad...the only problem with it is that it isn't fun to play with it anymore...
