Title: Speed (What takes so F***ing long) Post by: KamiKaze on 2003-04-03, 16:02 Not that I'm complainign but I would like an occasional downloadable update so I can play with the new stuff you guys have completed since v.99b
Title: Re: Speed Post by: Lilazzkicker on 2003-04-03, 16:10 Sorry, im not going to vote on this topic, and if this new topic disappears i wouldnt care.
You do realize that these people have their own lives, and dont have to confirm to someones schedule of what they want done, or done what way. Im not an admin here, but I know the team members well enough to know that this topic will be locked shortly. Title: Re: Speed Post by: dev/null on 2003-04-03, 16:29 I think you meant to make The guys at Wirehead are busy with ther lives and The guys at Wirehead are jsut annoying us seperate votes... But alas, Lil is correct, if not a bit harsh. Not only are they trying their hardest, but they do have lives outside of this mod (I would hope). Besides, from the looks of it, I'd say the new version isn't too far over the horizon :)
Title: Re: Speed Post by: Lilazzkicker on 2003-04-03, 17:10 have to admit i was a bit harsh, hey kamikazi, take a look at these
http://members.cox.net/ppk1/ScreenShots.html (http://members.cox.net/ppk1/ScreenShots.html) thats what you can expect to see in 99c Title: Re: Speed Post by: games keeper on 2003-04-03, 18:40 dont burn him to hard pho.
just make him look toasty. and con , please dont use your powers to pop his brains out , you know how messy that gets . Title: Re: Speed Post by: ConfusedUs on 2003-04-03, 19:12 Let's just say that there's a LOT to do and not enough time to do it in. We're getting pretty close to .99c though. ;)
Title: Re: Speed Post by: Phoenix on 2003-04-03, 19:31 I'll be nice and not dismember anybody today, I promise. The answer is B and the first part of C. I'm working my tailfeathers off on the code in the time that I am able to. That's usually the time of night between about 11 pm and 3 am. I average about 4-5 hours of sleep a day, and have for the last year or so. Laziness is not an option. There's a lot to do, and limited time in which it can be done. Don't worry, good stuff is coming soon. :daddy:
Title: Re: Speed Post by: games keeper on 2003-04-03, 19:35 a little bit of fire would have been cool and con . you could have popped his eyes out .
Title: Re: Speed Post by: Hedhunta on 2003-04-03, 21:44 ehrm.. i know ive done everything i can for the moment.. whenever pho gets to designing a working animation system past his basic vertex animation hes using that ill be ready to go for anims..
but for now im working on a ut2k3 mod thats coming along nicely.. Title: Re: Speed Post by: games keeper on 2003-04-04, 12:21 wich one ?
Title: Re: Speed Post by: Atom235 on 2003-04-04, 15:03 I was a bit disappointed that I didn't hear excessive ranting from yours side, Pho :) Nevertheless, I'll hope that gen 99c will be available for non-beta peeps soon.

1. My harddisk crashed -and to my astonishment my backup sys didn't include the wirehead project dir. Sloppy & Bad Luck. I lost quite a bit of stuff that will have to be remade (re-modelled mostly). 2. I'm terribly busy with school projects. I have a flash documentary project, a client/server coding assignment and several smaller projects to work on for at least 3 more weeks. Needless to say, these things come first. As you may or may not understand, I'm hesitant to redo the lost work. I get that black-hole feeling when having to do something that I've already put behind me. When I get some time on my hands I'm bound to get bored/motivated again - so it's just a matter of time ;] For those losing patience: Keep in mind that we're actually a pretty small team, and our progress usually comes in bursts. Not seeing any change for a while doesn't mean we're dead. We're just feigning it ;] Title: Re: Speed Post by: Phoenix on 2003-04-06, 04:47 Think of my name, and what it means. That should give a clue as to what's really going on when it looks "dead" around here.

My second attempts are never up to par with the first ones either :(Title: Re: Speed Post by: games keeper on 2003-04-06, 14:23 dont wurry guys i will never ask for it again . (to busy mapping :D )
Title: Re: Speed Post by: Parapsyche on 2003-04-06, 18:01 They're definitely trying their hardest to make the next release. I don't think they're slackers, lol.
I don't really care how long it takes for the next release, cause I know they're putting their full effort into creating an excellent gaming experience for the people who download it. So take your time, guys, and make it the best ya can. Title: Re: Speed Post by: dev/null on 2003-04-06, 19:44 I don't really care how long it takes either, to a certain extent. I mean, I don't think ANYONE wants this mod to take the next seven years to finish :P
Title: Re: Speed Post by: games keeper on 2003-04-07, 21:30 by then im not even intersted in games maybe !!!!!
Title: Re: Speed Post by: Arno on 2003-04-10, 09:41 Heh
I was planning to make a new topic about this, but it actually fits right in with this topic. You see, today it's April 10. Which means Generations Arena is now precisely 3 years in the making. :D I dug up the original newspost from PlanetQuake: Quote Monday, April 10, 2000 Generations Arena Announced Quake III Arena News | 4/10/2000 | 6:48 PST - Pappy-R That's right, you heard me right. Generations is about to rise again, although in an all new way. Being done for Quake III, and "all legal, all the time", this latest Generations Project is about to relive, and make history. The project is being done by WireHead Studios, and I'm guessing that Lee'Mon just couldn't let this one go, no matter how many times he said he had. Here's what Lee'Mon had to say about the new project: GenArena divides the Quake3 characters (such as Doom, Ranger, Grunt, and Visor) into five "generations" of player classes, with different weapons, strengths, and weaknesses. Although the Q3A mod is not associated with the cancelled Quake2:Generations project, fans of the original should find plenty to like with the new mod. You can check out the new Generations Arena site for a story line, charachters and more feature details. To get an idea of what has happened in the past years I made a quick time table which shows the history of Generations. Blue = Quake2 Genererations related Orange = SOG (Son of Generations/Some Old Games) related Red = Generations Arena related July 14 1998 - Generations launches at PlanetQuake September 22 1998 - Generations v0.90 Released (first public release; Q1 and Q2 only) September 26 1998 - Generations v0.91 Released (quick bug fixes) October 26 1998 - Generations v0.93 Released March 30 1999 - Generations v0.94 Released (was pulled one day later because of too many bugs) May 19 1999 - Generations v0.98 Released (Wolf en Doom added) May 23 1999 - Generations v0.98a Released (quick bug fixes) June 6 1999 - Generations v0.98b Released (GenStart added) June 14 1999 - Generations canceled June 16 1999 - SOG anounced February 26 2000 - SOG v0.32a Released (Wolf, Doom and Q2 only) March 21 2000 - SOG v0.33a Released (quick bug fixes) April 10 2000 - Generations Arena anounced September 28 2000 - SOG v1.0 Released (DM only) October 12 2000 - SOG v1.1 Released (quick bug fixes) February 3 2001 - SOG v1.2 Released (SP campaign added) April 6 2001 - Generations Arena Preview Movie Released April 14 2001 - SOG Wolfenstein 3D Mappack Released July 24 2001 - SOG v1.3 Released August 10 2001 - Generations Arena Test previewed at QuakeCon. December 20 2001 - Generations Arena v99a Released December 21 2001 - Mappack 1 Released March 31 2002 - Resurgence anounced August 8 2002 - Generations Arena v99b Released November 15 2002 - Mappack 2 Released I hope you enjoyed the nostalgia. B) Oh, and to answer the poll question: I know very well how much time it takes to mod. Considering all the high quality stuff that is in Generations Arena, I conclude that the Wirehead teammembers are working as hard as they can. Title: Re: Speed Post by: Phoenix on 2003-04-12, 04:39 Thanks for the history, Arno, that's a fantastic breakdown!
And who voted that we're lazy? Speak up, so I can inflict serious bodily harm on you. :D Title: Re: Speed Post by: games keeper on 2003-04-12, 15:22 I would like the beating so I say yes although i voted no :D
