Title: Singleplayer? (Does it have Singleplayer?)
Post by: Sicilianmandolin on 2004-07-16, 09:44
I was under the impression by various websites that Generations Arena had a singleplayer/bot game mode componentry. This feature doesn't seem to be in the game description...Is it there?

Thanks for your input..

Yes. Try /addbot in the console. :)

For example: /addbot Ranger 5; loads a Ranger bot on the Nightmare skill level.

If you want random bots to spawn, specify the skill level on the server setup menu and set minimum players (or /bot_minplayers in the console during a game) higher than 1. Like if you want 5 random bots, use /bot_minplayers 6. You add one to the number of bots you want, because that counts yourself as a player and the command will spawn bots until that number of players is reached. If another player joins, one bot will be kicked.

I see...

Thanks a lot. I am unable to play many games online due to connection issues so I'm left to rely on bots.

Thanks again

I understand the frustration.  For much of Gen's early development I was on a rather unstable 26.6 modem connection, and for a while was almost completely unable to play.  We don't have a proper single player mode set up at present, but we are planning it for Gen 1.0.
