Title: Graphic Question(s)
Post by: Bald&Sexy on 2003-04-07, 04:30
What's the difference between Bilinear and Trilinear filtering? What happens if I were to enable Compress Textures? Would my game look better or worse? Are you guys going to improve the Black Shaodw any? So it projects on wall sand such instead of just the ground?

does look a bit better with trilinear filtering, though bigger fps hit, dunno anything else about it though

Bald: don't enable compressed textures q3 will just look ugly with them, the only advantage by using compressed textures is faster loading.

And about shadows: Q3 do have other shadows than the "blobb" if you enable /cg_shadows 2 all ents and players will cast shadows BUT those shadows can be buggy sometimes.

I personally don't use ANY shadows. The blob shadows are boring and the shadows ReBoOt's talking about don't work well (they don't project upon walls, they do project in the air if you're sitting on a ledge, etc) :(
