Title: Footman's Doom 3 spoiler topic (*shrug* Needed one)

I attained a copy today, and went through some stuff. Apparently, dead bodies and decals eventually disappear after a few seconds. Weapons: All of the old weapons, sans the Combat shotgun, are back. There's also a soul cube and a machinegun, and the chaingun packs quite a punch. The berserk is back, too and can kill most monsters in a single blow. You also run faster with it. You also get a flashlight for dark areas, but you can also bonk monsters over the head with it. Monsters: The Arachnatron, Baron of Hell, and Spider Mastermind have all been cut. The new Imps are sneaky bitches. The game's final boss is supposedly the Cyberdemon, but I haven't gotten far enough to make a fair assessment. As expected, the Cacos are back. Whether or not they double as a Pain Elemental is unknown, I killed the first one I saw too fast to find out. Items: Gone are any artifacts as far as I can tell. Only the standard Armor, shards, health kits, and berserk are available.

Contains spoilers (sort of)... Ah, it's a shame to hear that those monsters got cut, but I'm sure the new ones will keep me on my toes just as much. :) I went to an Electronics Boutique earlier today, and they already had the guide, so I did some slight nosing around and found out about the Soul Cube and got a closer look at the BFG. The Soul Cube looked cool, but I wonder what it'll look like in first person. (I didn't read about what it actually did either.) To me, The BFG looked kind of shitty though. I couldn't really make out any of the detail, and the handles looked like they suffered from the Q3 "small-grip, big weapon" syndrome. I would have done some more nosing through the guide, but I wasn't planning on buying anything, and I didn't want to freeload so I headed home. :p

Contains spoilers... Uh... you do realize who that is right HardHat? Anyhow, speaking of bastards, DOOM 3 is now on all four LAN machines at my school, and a guy brought in a portable hard drive today and is going to make DVD copies. >.> I'm trying to avoid playing it, but I already broke down and bought the strategy guide today just so I could check out all of the monsters. The Cyber-Demon looks awesome as you have already seen. :p And several of the boss monsters are very reminiscent of other monsters featured in the Quake series. One thing I am kind of upset about however, is that the Mancubus is in DOOM 3 yet the Arachnotrons and Spider Masterminds are not. In my opinion, the Mancubus looks like shit and from the description, isn't much different from some of the other enemies. I'll find out though eventually. :)
Oh and I have some bad news for the hardcore DOOM fans. From what I inferred from the description, the BFG 9K will not function the way it did in the original DOOM games. Instead, the weapon can be charged before firing for greater damage and features what sounds like the tracer-beams in the BFG 10K. :(

Hey, as long as it causes mass death and destruction like a BFG should. :D

This isn't really that much of a spoiler, but it can be used to spoil certain aspects of the game. Anyhow, for those of you who have played the game and are wondering where the hell the console went, just hit CTRL + ALT + ~ and it should come up. :) Also, DOOM 3 has a very awesome screenshot command. You can actually specify the resolution you want the screenshot to be taken at without actually having to be at that resolution. The screenshots have to be a set ratio however (4:3.) This probably explains how 4000 x 3000 screenshots were taken, but I'm still curious as to how long something like that would take to render.
