This is it! Generations Arena v0.99e is out! Head on over to our downloads page (http://www.wireheadstudios.org/generations/downloads.php) for install files and instructions.

Some important things to note:

GenArena 0.99e is fresh, full install only. There is no upgrade from 99d. Delete, rename or otherwise remove your old /generations directory and install 99e from scratch.

For those with previous installations of Generations Arena, please be sure to make backup copies of any .cfg files and/or  custom maps you may have within your generations folder.  Any .pk3's within a pre-existing generations folder WILL be removed by the installer, and certain .cfg files MUST be overwritten in order for .99e to properly function.  A desktop shortcut will be created for you automatically.  Just click on it to play.  If you notice any odd behavior please be sure your com_hunkmegs setting is 128 or higher.

If using the .zip installers instead of the .exe files, be SURE to follow the instructions on the downloads page.

After your download is complete, head on over to our servers page (http://www.wireheadstudios.org/generations/servers.php) and find a game!  Our main servers are running 99e already.

If for any reason you have install problems, hit up our brand-new support page (http://www.wireheadstudios.org/generations/support.php) and fire off a report. Be sure to follow the directions at the top, as most issues are as simple as changing a single setting.

Can't you just overwrite all those .99d files?

The .exe installer automatically removes them.  If someone uses the .zip installer they have to manually remove .99d.

oops, forgot to ask... could you make (or is) this mod compatible with 1.30 ??

What's wrong with 1.32?

Generations Arena was compiled under the 1.32h source code.  Unless Id releases another point source, or we decide to modify the Quake 3 engine once the full source is released, that is the only codebase it will be compiled under from here on out.

hmmm, i just tried and it worx just fine with 1.30 besides a few bugs... problem is, noone has this mod installed, so no players in my server at all... this mod dead?

We've had between 8 and 20 people on the servers every night since 99e was released.

Try hopping on around 9pm EST and seeing who's playing.

I installed .99e (fresh install, brand new computer) and went in to play a game.  I noticed something, however, that's probably not supposed to be: The bots take INSANE amounts of damage.  They seem to be able to kill each other just fine, but when I try to take one down, they don't die.  This is not a problem with my skill because I've /devmapped q3ctf4 and gave myself godmode.  I then used my grapple to hang on to a bot and chewed him up with Doom's chainsaw.  It took a good 4-5 times longer than it should have.  He didn't have disruption shield, and even if he did, it shouldn't have taken that long.  .99d had no issues like this and worked like a charm.  It's a shame to see such a huge bug in this version...

how bout checking your handicap

Ah ha!  So they did go through with changing handicap's function!  Boy do i feel stupid now...

This mod is FAR from dead... heh.
Most all Q3 players play on Q3 1.32 PR servers though, so if you want to get any players at all, I'd suggest upgrading.

It's an automated script.  I've banned it from other servers before.
