Title: Doom Movie (Yes, it's coming.) Post by: Phoenix on 2004-08-15, 09:16 Quote The Doom movie is still a viable project and Holleshead said that he is more confident than ever that within 18 months there will be a Doom movie at your local multiplex. http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id=25341 (http://www.homelanfed.com/index.php?id=25341) Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Footman on 2004-08-15, 09:39 I heard The Rock was possible casting for the DoomGuy.
Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Lopson on 2004-08-15, 10:09 DooM RULES! Finnaly a decent movie
BTW: I'm back! ^_^ Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Angst on 2004-08-15, 22:20 If Rock gets casted as the doom marine, I'll probably burn down the theater...

I think he's already been signed on for this movie after he's done with Spy Hunter. he looked awesome in that shoot-out part in The Rundown, and I think he's a character... I think The Rock would work out well. it's not Rocky I'm worried about... it's the movie itself. pay mention, years ago they were talking about using Tom Berenger for the Doomguy :D Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Phoenix on 2004-08-16, 02:54 Well as long as it's not:
Dolph Lundgren Steven Segal Jean Claude VanDamm Patrick Swayze Patrick Stewart Leonard Nimoy Captain Ki.. er, I mean William Shatner Richard Gear Sean Connery Sean Penn (Eww!) Elijah Wood Ian McKellan or anyone else who can't play a convincing muscle-bound Space Marine. Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Footman on 2004-08-16, 04:31 I think Bruce Willis would be quite fitting as the Doom guy, with Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Betruger. ;P
Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Phoenix on 2004-08-16, 04:33 I can see it now. :D
*Bruce Willis blows away a demon with a 12 gauge* "Yippie cay-yay mother..." *cyberdemon roars and stamps into view* "Oh s***!" Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Kelemvor on 2004-08-16, 08:02 As with any movie based off of a game, this causes me to think of how hilariously bad it will be. The only one that truely made me vomit was Mario Bros. But it is Doom, so there may be hope.
Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: shambler on 2004-08-16, 08:33 Its going to be bad. Its going to be very bad.........
remember the comic................ Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Footman on 2004-08-16, 08:49 I don't think the guys who made the comic will be doing anything with the movie. ;)
Michael Jackson for Revenent! :thumb: Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Lopson on 2004-08-16, 09:35 I think that Michael Jackson would be the best guy to play the paper of the DooM Marine.
can you imagine? "AAAHHH (really stupid scream) a monster!" "AAAHHH a Michael Jackson" But suddently, MJ starts dancing and the monster is gibbed by the power of plastic cirgury "I rocked your body, huh Cyberdemon?" :D :D Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Footman on 2004-08-16, 10:20 Quote from: [KruzadeR ] I think that Michael Jackson would be the best guy to play the paper of the DooM Marine. Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Phoenix on 2004-08-17, 09:57 Bruce Willis isn't meaty enough. The Doom marine needs to have a physique like Ahnold but without the accent. I think The Rock could do fine in the role IF the movie is taken seriously by the director. Let' s face it, wrestling IS acting.

Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Hedhunta on 2004-08-18, 13:24 the doom movie will be good no doubt, game to movies are getting better each time they come out.. the problem is they all seem really short imo. esp AVP, it felt rushed, but a very good movie i thought.

Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: games keeper on 2004-08-19, 18:41 actually the doomguy aint that big .
hes actually a small guy . short and muscled . Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: shambler on 2004-08-19, 22:00 strange but true:
Bruce Campbell was involved with the early doom stuff, as the insperation for Doom was conceived shortly after they had watched Army of Darkness, according to Brucie in the foreward to 'the deathmatch manifesto' by Rob E Waring. Seems he knew McGee etc. what a small world. This intresting fact was brought to you by the letter S and the supernailgun.... http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/33570 (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/33570) Quote Some DOOM movie news this morning courtesy of Reuters, as they are reporting that Karl Urban will star in the Universal project. Urban was most recently seen in the The Bourne Supremacy, and he's also been in The Chronicles of Riddick as well as the Lord of the Rings movies Two Towers and Return of the King (as Eomer). Quote Urban will play John Grimm, the leader of a special ops team that is at the center of the futuristic action-adventure film. When dealing with alien demons, he is forced to cross paths with the organization responsible for his parents' deaths. Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Woodsman on 2004-09-15, 18:46 Ive known about Karl Urban for some time. He played a few diffrent roles on Herucles and Xena which i watched alot growing up ( i have the first 4 seasons of herc on dvd ) hes a pretty good actor so i wouldnt worry about him screwing it up.

Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Gnam on 2004-09-26, 17:40 From Planet Doom:
Quote According to a post over on Homelan Fed and the Hollywood Reporter, British Actress Rosamund Pike will play a scientist named Samantha, opposite the main character in the upcoming film. Pike, who is best known as Miranda Frost in the James Bond film, Die Another Day, will join the other already known cast members, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Karl Urban in the large screen adapation of the DOOM 3 video game due to hit theaters next year. Gee, I wonder who the love interest wil be! Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Phoenix on 2004-09-27, 00:30 Maybe "The Rock" will play Phobos? :rules:
Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Footman on 2004-09-27, 01:02 I doubt Phobos is even being considered for the movie. And I'm talkin' both the moon and the person. :p
Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Gnam on 2004-09-27, 08:02 You never know, Phobos could be the token black guy.

So here's what we know. It's a newbie screenwriter who has played video games, including Doom, it's not going to be set on Mars, and The Rock won't raise his eyebrow in the film, and Karl Urban does play the Doom guy. Despite the changes I'd say it's got a decent chance of success, provided the director doesn't screw it up. As for why I'd give the newbie screenwriter a better shot at making a decent film? He's young and ambitious so he's got to take his work seriously, as opposed to some late-career screenwriter that's told "Here, write a script for Doom" and sloshes some horrible piece of writing together. It could still outright suck, but who knows. :doomed: Title: Re: Doom Movie Post by: Gnam on 2004-10-10, 03:27 So the chick plays the main character's sister? Atleast that means they won't ruin it with a cheesy love story (unless the writer goes Lucas on our ass).
