Title: Strogg Trickjumping (pukka3tourney4)
Post by: Tekhead on 2004-08-23, 05:42
We need to get more CPM maps in the map packs... =]

http://dl.downloadhosting.com/download/tek...ead/pukka.dm_68 (http://dl.downloadhosting.com/download/tekhead/pukka.dm_68) <- Strogg
http://dl.downloadhosting.com/download/tek...d/pukka-s.dm_68 (http://dl.downloadhosting.com/download/tekhead/pukka-s.dm_68) <- Slipgate

Check it out - very hard but accomplishable double-jump method of getting the RA in Otherword (pukka3tourney4) in addition to slope jumps.

Btw, I noticed you asked about vid-making on irc. I suggest you grab QVM (http://www.swift-tools.net/Quake/QVM/). Real easy, real quick.

Awesome - I'll check it out when I get home. Thanks!

I know how to slope-jump there... and I know how to circle-jump from the CG to the ledge and down to the HB.

But how on Stroggos do you do that stair-jump? O_o

Have you ever seen someone go from the railgun pool directly up to the rocket boxes on the ledge on Q2DM1?  Same principle.  It's very tricky.  If you don't time it perfectly it won't happen.

Actually, I think it involves a circle-ramp-jump from the pool tp the rockets. Can't do it myself, but I've got a demo that shows how to do so.

Stairjumping remains totally out of my reach. :(

Well, I've done it on Q2DM1 by running from the healthpacks and ramp-double jumping at the edge of the staircase.  There may be more than one way to do it.

The stairjump works on the same principle as the Q2DM1 crate doublejump to get to the megahealth, except you're moving forward in this case as opposed to being flat against the boxes.  That's why it's so much harder to do.  It has to be timed perfectly.  I wonder how many tries it took for Tek to get that demo to turn out right. :)

Hehe, it's damned hard in Gen. I can't help but load up Q2 once in a while and do all those jumps with so much ease, just to see if I'm not just getting old :]

Then you're either insanely lucky, or flat-out lying. :)
