It could be cool, if they try. They will atleast probably have some new MP maps, and if we're lucky, some more hell SP levels.

While I.D itself has a pretty shitty track record when it comes to mission packs id like to remind us all that there have been good mission packs in the past. Oposing force and duke it out in dc come to mind. call of duty united offensive was pretty damn sweet. Medal of honor aliied assault had two good mission packs....well breakthrough was less good.

Id? Shitty mission packs? Huh?

I've not played a quake mission pack I DIDNT like.

Let's just hope this conversation doesn't have gameskeeper start bitching about how much he wants mission peck weapons in Gen.  Even though he knows he won't get them.

Same here.  Both of the Q2 mission packs were great.

The Quake mission packs rock.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist ...

NB: What you see above is a doctored screnshot.

I never asked for missionpack weapons .
I asked for team arena maps or gametypes to be in gen .

never the weapons since that some of those MP weapons would greatly unbalance the game  => quake 1 missionpack 2 rocketlauncher wich shoots 5 rockets instead of 1 at a time

I agree too, but I haven't played Q2 pack 2 yet. I have it from ebay, but have not got round to it.

I also agree with GK about the maps

Well given that 90% of the forums here are rabib ID fanboys im betting they could stamp the quake logo on a rotten clams and still get rave reviews here. i waited forever to play Q3 Team arena and got about 20 minutes  of play in before i got sick of it and for that i will never forgive them! EVER! :sob:

I agree with woods about Q3A. but I mean real mission packs. when Q3A came out i kinda swopped to UT.

I'm not a fanboy. I only really played Q1 more than once. The rest once only.

Even TA was good, but it was too little too late.

TA is what Q3 should have been out-of-the-box

And again, I have to agree with Con, as I've said the same thing.

Speaking of mission packs, if anyone has the Ground Zero mission pack for Quake 2 there's a problem with the gamex86.dll, even under the 3.21 build of Quake 2.  You'll see the following error when you try to load a saved game:

Read level error: function pointers have moved

There's a fix for it, and yes it works.  Snag the file here. (http://www.fileplanet.com/files/120000/126692.shtml)  If you don't have a gamespy ID or just plain hate Fileplanet send me a PM with an email address that can take attachments (don't post it here or the spamcrawlers will snag it) and I'll send you a copy.  You'll have to start over from the beginning, but your saved games won't corrupt.

Cheers, Pho. That has been doing my head in for an age.

(clicks on fileplanet)

42 bloody minutes??? For a 28 second download??? AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!

I half agree with Woodsman on the fact that TA was a bit of a let down and is littered with problems. ZMalloc failed, anyone? Even with standard TA I still have problems running mpterra2. At best it runs for 5 minutes and then shuts down and at worst it doesn't load at all.

Just on the Q2 topic - I'm having the same problem with Reckoning. Is there a patch for that too?
