Title: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: o'dium on 2005-01-06, 02:01 I just made a new Armor Shard model/skin for Q2E, now it "does" look in some regards like your model, and I have to say I did take some inspiration from your mesh. I just wanted to assure you that the model has been made from scratch, and that if you wish to check you can by all means download the media. I just wanted to let you know, incase you stumble over it by accident and get the wrong idea.
Here is a quick pic anyways, take a look if you like. http://www.planetquake.com/eeca/q2e/shard_preview.jpg (http://www.planetquake.com/eeca/q2e/shard_preview.jpg) Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: Angst on 2005-01-06, 02:47 hmm, the edge highlights are a bit strong, but that's a nice skin.

Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: Tabun on 2005-01-06, 08:36 Don't worry, I still remember the way you stood up for artisthood and against ripping a while ago - wouldn't have thought you'd ripped it. I also clearly see the differences, after viewing that shot. I'm just flattered that my work again is used as an example :]
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: o'dium on 2005-01-06, 23:21 Thanks dude, means a lot to me. I thought it best to ask before i made a post on the forums, although they seem ot be down again ATM anyways for some reason.
Thanks! Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: Tabun on 2005-01-07, 00:48 Blur forums are down because the dynamic planetquake servers weren't re-activated by the Blur team. My planetquake site was down too, and when I activated it, they forgot to send me my new password, and have stopped responding to my emails -- so I'm in the shithouse too ;]
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: o'dium on 2005-01-07, 01:03 No, we moved to www.quake2evolved.com now and www.quake2evolved.com/blurforum , but the sites down atm lol.
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: Tabun on 2005-01-07, 01:11 ah, ghehe, good to know about the move, anyway :]
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: Assamite on 2005-01-08, 12:43 Also, update your site, Tab. :P

What is not updated about that? I"ve never been this close to the here and now, actually ;] Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: o'dium on 2005-01-09, 13:19 VERY cool site dude :)
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: ReBoOt on 2005-01-12, 02:53 Very nice indeed o'dium! :) im gonna take alook at that site of yours it got me interested
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: Tekhead on 2005-01-19, 13:55 I definitely see the 'worn edge' style of texturing carried over. There is probably more, but it's late and my eyes are failing =[
Top notch work! Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: o'dium on 2005-02-07, 01:20 I updated this model further, just so you all know. I re-did the logo, and optimized the model a LOT. It now uses one 512x512 texture, not 2. Which I'm sure you will agree is a LOT better. You can check the skin out here:

Post by: ReBoOt on 2005-02-07, 03:07 o'dium the model look plain...awsome :) that's some nice texture work there my friend! Overall id say all the models at the q2 evolved site looks promising. and once they are finished im gonna use this mod :)
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: Phoenix on 2005-02-07, 06:04 Aye, they look very good, grenades, healthpack, and shard are all looking quite sharp. I only have one request, and that's an option to use the old-style particle effects if desired, as well as the model-style explosion (I think Q2 Max uses a sprite). Everything else is looking dandy, so I'm most likely to join you in that 'Boot. :)
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: o'dium on 2005-02-08, 14:00 It really is to much work code wise to have both particle styles selectable :( We are trying to concentrate on just adding the new particle system ATM, so its kinda odd to work on old particles too :p
Title: Re: Tabun, can I have a word? Post by: Phoenix on 2005-02-08, 17:23 I'll be sure to check it out either way. :thumb:
