Title: my own system troubles
Post by: Footman on 2005-08-05, 05:09
Does anyone know anything about something called "meethide.exe"?
It's in my running processes and it's either using alot of ram or alot of cpu power. It seemingly does absolutely nothing but slow my system down. I ran a scan with Spybot, Ad-aware, Spy sweeper, and Norton, and none of them have any idea what this is.

I tried to end it, but it comes back in less than a second and I did a search of my pc; No such executable exists. It's just... running.

Help?

The things I would try are:
Check your startup folder .
run msconfig and look for it in the startup tab.
try system restore.
if you`re running XP you could try a repair from the windows CD
use regedit and look for it in the registry.

Ah yes the wonders of  "Find" in the registry editor.. :) try that and do as Arnie suggested

If you can't find startup stuff, try using a freeware program like 'starter' or 'quickstart' or whatever. They're usually easy tools to see a list of automatically launched programs.

That's got to be a new one.  I can't find any reference to it at all.
