Title: More "Nanny State" Control... Post by: Phoenix on 2008-01-13, 20:44 Quote Next year in California, state regulators are likely to have the emergency power to control individual thermostats, sending temperatures up or down through a radio-controlled device that will be required in new or substantially modified houses and buildings to manage electricity shortages. http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/01/11/america/calif.php Before anyone says this is a good idea because brownouts suck, well, brownouts wouldn't happen if the power grid could meet demands. Maybe something else needs to be looked at, like increasing the capacity of the power grid? Would you accept it if the government said they'd turn off your car because the price of gasoline got too high, or that food should be rationed because the price of corn was high this week? I hear a lot of talk about how the government has no business regulating what goes on in the bedroom. Well, how about a nice cold shower instead? Title: Re: More "Nanny State" Control...
