Title: Where's the topic about Id Tech 3/Doom 3's source code release? Post by: fourier on 2011-12-04, 18:06 I'm surprised this wasn't brought up (or perhaps it was and I missed it).
Apparently it was held up a bit by the stencil buffer shadow implementation (Carmack's Reverse), so Carmack had to alter the code slightly to get around the legal bs. http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2011/11/17/2569394/john-carmack-doom-3-patent I wonder if anyone will try to completely remove the fps cap in it. I haven't looked at it yet. I figured I would let the more eager Doom 3 modders take a crack at it and see what they come up with. :doomed:
