Title: The Jerry Bruckheimer Thread
Post by: OoBeY on 2004-01-19, 08:19
Every day I will post a new picture of (an) explosion(s) I find particularly cool.

Why? I have no freaking clue.

edit: feel free to chime in with any explosions of your own.

Not an explosion per se, but noteworthy nonetheless (http://www.sandia.gov/media/images/jpg/Z.jpg)

Linked for tremendous size. This is my wallpaper btw.

It makes x-rays. That lightning, btw, is the residual power left over. That's the stuff NOT USED in the creation of the x-rays, that manages to escape all sorts of insulation. Now try to imagine just how powerful that thing is.

EDIT: Bonus fact, the Z Machine is actually in a pool. Therefore what you are seeing is a real life shaft.

Thermobaric airburst weapon, or a "fuel-air" bomb.  Basically it's a firebomb from hell that's akin to dropping a tanker truck full of jet fuel on something, vaporizing it with a concussive charge, and igniting the vapor.  My kind of weapon.
