Title: Weapon sounds (slipgate grenade bounce sound)
Post by: Arnie on 2004-08-02, 19:57
Hi all,
I`m trying to get the slipgate sound working (sound/weapons/grenade/slipbounce.wav) for the grenade launcher but it will only use the strogg sound?.  I can get it to work if I rename the sound to the q3 filename (hgrenb1a.wav ) but then it plays that sound for q3, strogg & slipgater. Does this sound work for generations yet ?.

The code was broken for that in .99d, so no, you can't get that to work.  It's been fixed for our upcoming .99e release.  :ninja:

I have modified some of the sounds for 99.d using mostly the wav editor included in Nero burning media, it appears dat ya have not only to rename the sound but to edit the 22, 11, 44hz thing in order for the sound to be placed in the .pk3 file and use it; after modifyin' most of the sounds, at last i ended modifying the doom 12gauge, cause the original sound is kinda crappy, no offense, also the slippy boomstick, the slippy nailgun with the original one, the earth's knife, and dats it....

Yeah, I know, I hate some of our sounds too.  Know any good sound engineers?  O_o

Get me a list of sounds we need, and .wav's from the original games if possible. I should be able to get replacements in a couple days.

Angst:  Let's continue this discussion sometime after .99e's release, a little more in private.  <3

I also put together my own little soundpak. I was going to do lots of stuff like acurate HUDs too, but:

1) I don't have the skill
2) I don't have the time
3) I really can't be arsed.

So, yes, I have a sound pak too. I was going to tell you that all the grenades are using the same sounds, but it's been said.

Makes this post kind of pointless, doesn't it?  ;)

Perhaps it lightens your mood to learn that .99e features placeholder huds that resemble the games original versions a bit more.

you guys think of everything don't you?  ^_^

I can't understand the scripting of HUDs anyway, and I couldn't find a hud scipt editor/viewer tool... not even any good tutorials! Any help?

Anyway... 99e on Sunday! Time to pimp it to all my friends again  <3

Q3:TA HUD information: See this site (http://www.linux.ucla.edu/~phaethon/q3tamenu/q3tamenu.html).

It's not a perfect reference, and I must admit it took me a while to figure things out, but it all makes sense, once you get the idea. It won't do for our final huds though, the possibilities are way too restricted.. :]
