Title: Grenades bounce wrong on slope (Exception: Arena)
Post by: Assamite on 2004-08-24, 00:09
ALL grenades (Except Arena) have this problem. I tested this on Howling winds and Eternal Arenas, where there were slopes to be found.

The problem: All non-Arena grenades, when bounced DOWN a slope, come to a complete halt. When bounced UP a slope, the grenades seem to gain extra bounces, and when they lose momentum on the slope, they seem to vibrate, causing repetitive impact sounds.

I'm not an expert on this, but perhaps the bounce directions on slopes have been coded to bounce in the opposite manner.

that's how grenades behaved, more or less, in the old games.

Pho re-wrote the grenade bounce code. It was always fun to 'stick' grenades in weird places on slopes to trick opponents.

Hehe, indeed. It was even used extensively for trickjumping :]
