Post by: Xypher on 2010-09-24, 23:38
Lets get together and play some tonight! I plan on starting somewhere between 9 and 10 PM EST (GMT -5)
on the Ferrets server!

Who's with me? Pho, who knows, post it on the main page! ;)

I can actually start playing again, although I didn't see this post, and I was asleep at that time.  I'll try to be there this weekend around that time.

Sounds good! I had to leave a little early for some errands, but didn't mind being phoenix' mop bucket. ;)

Fourier and I had an impromptu game tonight.  We only had Cadavre, and then Slash to keep us company (and annoy the bird immensely).  You guys all missed the fun.  Ahh well, maybe next time?

Mayhaps, we went to a renaissance faire today. It was damn cold, but we still had fun. :)

Really going to have to pay attention more to these threads... but then I'll be eating into my Minecraft time!
How consistently does anybody get on?  I'll start getting back on myself if I see a person or two.

Fairly inconsistent.  I just checked the servers around 9:30 pm Eastern Saturday night for anyone playing and Fourier happened to be there, so I hopped on and joined in.

I'm in the process of moving right now. Maybe once I get settled in, I can try joining up for some more frequent online games. Of course, school is starting in a few weeks... :\

I'll be eating into my Minecraft time!
I played some Minecraft online the other day. I had to install Java for it, but I had fun. I couldn't figure out how to do anything but destroy and/or place blocks though. My flowers and mushrooms just disappeared after being placed. There didn't really seem to be any reason to play, so to speak... no goals or anything. Is the pay-to-play version any different?

*takes ~Va^^pyrA~ 's Penny off the tracks*

Yep, we need PR like Minecraft!
Start dumping demos to video for youtube!
Open Invitation FTW (For the World!)

Not really, no.  Also, you're right to say that there's no real purpose to playing other than building something for the sake of it.  Not that you need limit yourself to the mundane, as this bloke demonstrates: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGkkyKZVzug

How did this go from a discussion of Gen game time to Minecraft?  Yikes.  :surprise:

Minecraft IS crack in videogame form.

So is World of Warcraft.. apparently. But why would you ever want to get yourself hooked on crack?

Yeah... Crack is whack.

Unless its Gencrack, then you should take ludicrous amounts and join open invitation games. :)

I've invited someone to come to the game tonight at the 9-10 est time.

Well, Fourier was there, a fellow named Col.Lloyd which Fourier introduced to Gen, and at the very end, Shambler from the UK joined us.  Unfortunately the server went down, so Shambler only got to join in for part of one map.  Hopefully we can get some more people to join in next Saturday.

If you all need some incentive, here's some.  Fourier is a much better player than me, so if you want to see the bird get stomped on for a change, show up and play, darn it!  :D

I meant to be there! I really did! I was making some money fixing a PC tho...   :(

Server shouldn't have gone down unless it was 3:59AM EST (server reboot).  I know I left you guys at somewhere around 2:30 - 3am, so possibly that was it.

Yes, it was right about 3:59.  The shutdown message said "Server disconnected - signal caught".  I'd assume that was a term signal, so that makes sense.

The servers are run with screen sessions, so the stop cron entries just kill the screen session; I guess that may not be the nicest way to do it, but it's also not a common thing that people would be in the server at that time ;)  The screen session is killed at 3:59, and the new one is started at 4.  I should probably add a restart one that will shutdown and restart the server all in one go instead of having to wait the 60 seconds.
