Moving along.. Earth now has a luger:

Don't break my back over this one please... it'll have to do. I still hate realistic weaponry for skinnage and it has not been a good day. Anyway, Pho's fantastic model does most of the work - Can't wait to see anims for this thing.

Break your back, Tab?  I loaded it up in the viewer before I saw this thread, and all I can say is it looks fantastic.  I still don't know how you do it, but it's turned out most excellent, as usual! Hail

The Luger probably does more damage than the MP40 and is also more accurate than the MP40

The damage, I dunno, it'd make sense if it did more damage than the MP40, but i'm not certain (never tested it out).

The MP40 is so accurate over a (very) long range that  using the Luger wouldn't do much, except slow down your fire rate drastically.

These skins and models look sweet, especially the knight skin for Keel.  I'm definitely stoked for .99e.

The luger is very accurate over long range.  Not as accurate as the Doom pistol, but accurate.  As for damage, right now it's pretty weak.  I could bump it up some since it hardly gets used.  I know it did a good deal in Wolfenstein.  I think I'll go back and play it some to compare to the MP-40 in Wolf.

I had always thought that Wolf3D weapons all delt the same damage, it was only the rate of fire (and thus rate of damage) that changed from weapon to weapon.  But then again, I haven't played it that much...

I just ran through a few Wolf levels and dna is correct.  The bullets all do the same damage, the stronger guns only fire faster.  It also only takes 1 or 2 shots to kill a light guard, but 5-7 for any gun to kill an SS.  There's a little randomness to the damage.  I'll bump the luger up to Doom pistol strength.  I think that should be adequate.

Nothing more satisfying than popping a cap in somebody's ass. Just ask any Doom player.

Ah.. the question at hand - what use is the lugger, you ask?

Quote
lug?ger - n.
A small boat used for fishing, sailing, or coasting and having two or three masts, each with a lugsail, and two or three jibs set on the bowsprit.

The lugger comes in handy when you want to do a bit of fishing, or in case you're looking for a vessel to leave any island you might be stranded on. Ofcourse, when you have an MP40, you might not need the lugger, since you could use it to threaten people to build one for you. Or perhaps you could fire the gun from the shore, in the hopes of catching fish without being afloat. I fail to see the link myself, however, and would suggest that you use the lugger at any time, even when an MP40 is available.

In my opinion the lugger can do quite a bit of damage in the right hands, however if your opponent has a rocket launcher or any sort of heavy damage weapon you better be quick on your feet or match em.I prefer shotguns. Are the animations for them gonna be in 99e?That would do it for me.Oh,maybe some new armor for DooM.

You obviously haven't been paying much attention, death_stalker ;p

Animations are not as easy as they seem - Version 1.0 material.
This thread is showcasing the stuff that gets in for 99e. Doom armor will make it.

But the slipgate armor is done, even...

And not shortly after - hence the edit:

Like I said, a quick hack - but still, it resembles doom's original boring armor, eh? :]

I believe the Doom armor had some plates running horizontally across the midsection.

Thumbs up! Those slipgate armours are excellent.

It's always been my fav as its so Gothic, rather than Si Fi. and those armours just project Gothic-ness. Tabun, you are unmatched. I believe this is what id would have done, if the comps had been up to it at the time. Thumbs up!
