Who?  Should I know these people?  The only cool thing I got out of this was maybe Doom 3 MIGHT be released 07.04.04.

I've never heard of them, but after looking into a bit, I have found that the guitarist also is in another band which goes by the name of MDFMK... Call me old fashion, but I like to have actual, pronounceable words when it comes to band names.

I thought Reznor was doing the music anyway?

I believe Reznor left the project and took all his work with him, something about it taking longer than he wanted and he had to work on a new album, at least, that's what I've heard.  I'm sure someone with more accurate information can correct me if I am mistaken.

Reznor did indeed leave the Doom3 project

And KMFDM (sound out the letters. Kay Em Eff Dee Em) and MDFMK are the same band. It was a publicity stunt. KMFDM said they were breaking up, and then MDFMK released a few CDs.

Most of their stuff is actually quite good.
