*gasps* Oh no, naughty advertisements *rolls her eyes* they're LINKS, no one is forcing you to go to them, it's just like a song with naughty words in it, no one is forcing you to listen to it, or to watch something on television you think is offensive. If you can't ignore it and go on with your life there's something seriously wrong with you, this is why we have such deplorable censorship, people just can't look the other way, enforced morality is such fvcking bullsh|t that it comes down to warning people that there are "adult" advertisements on a site, do these people need warned when they drive down certain streets? "Watch out Jim-bob, there's an 'adult bookstore' down that there road." This is ridiculous people, grow up.

Apoc: I do believe that he was just warning of it, for those who MIGHT be viewing from work or take offense. No one was insulting you. However, check your private messages. I've also split this post into CC, just for the hell of it.

Now, back on topic. I agree with you in a certain sense. No one is forcing anyone to watch late-night Skinamax or listen to Eminem's endless string of curses. However, it's easily possible to stumble upon them while looking for something else. While I don't have an issue with naked women or a few curse words, if I happened across a detailed gay sex scene while channel surfing, I'd be upset. I don't want to see that. Nor would I want my son surfing hardcore porn sites when he's six years old, or playing something as mindlessly violent as Grand Theft Auto 3. I wouldn't want to be caught looking at naked women while at work either, I could get fired for it. Also, the internet is another story. Often links are misleading, bringing you content you don't want. Browsers can get hijacked too. (Let's not get off topic onto browser wars..) All in all, while you have a point, having the option to NOT see or hear these kinds of things is great for those of us who want no part of it. You can look at gay porn while listening to Eminem if you want, but I wouldn't want to.

Many, many things are links that people don't want to see.
Remember goatse before you knew what it was? How about tubgirl? What about scary flash movies that made your heart skip a beat or five? It's only curteous to label links with explicit content as Not Work Safe, or with some form of disclaimer. The word fu?k isn't as severe as a demonstrative image of the word. It's nice to respect the wants of other people =]

I'm just re-enforcing what Con said...
Personally, Im against censorship, I live in europe, and i see boobies on billboards every day.
However, When I am at work, I could get COURT MARTIALLED AND THROWN IN PRISON (a lot worse then fired eh?) for viewing porn on a government computer. So I prefer not-to if at all possible.
Granted, I have my own personal computer at work with which I IRC and surf during the day, but Im just stating, it's not that all of us are censoring assholes, its just that we prefer to keep our jobs.

Ok, since as usual this person's post is screaming for attention I'll bite. And since personal flaming is prohibited I'll keep it brief. If you don't like the rules of the forums, there are other places to post where I'm sure they will censor less.

Do you guys really think you should be doing anything other than work while at your place of employment anyway? I don?t, and I?m sure your bosses would agree. With that bourgeois scapegoat now out of the way though, I shall continue onward to more pressing points.
Eminem is a talentless sack of white trash. The very fact that he has chosen a musical path as deplorable as rap only worsens his persona that much more. However, I don?t foresee many people listening to him while searching for gay porn anyway, as he does come off as being extremely homophobic. Of course, a lot of people involved in this conversation do. Of course, if one is that afraid of happening across something that depicts homosexual relationships, perhaps one should turn their television off. That little box of pictures is evil anyway, filled to the brim with corporate conditioning to help all of American?s milk-fed populace grow up into good whores, turning any trick they can in the name of consumerism.
Phoenix, I think DaMan McDeth 666 had phrased it well once upon a time when he screamed out ?Nazi? for the boards to hear. Points of totalitarianism aside, anyone who wishes to post unhindered by pseudo morals may migrate to my forums.
P.S. No one should play anything in the Grand Theft Auto series after 2, unless you?re a drunken frat boy who used mommy?s credit card to purchase their antiquated Playstation 2 (Sony?s main audience, after all). Then you can rot your mind with such mediocrity and I won?t care for you were doing the world no good to begin with.

who gives a $hit about what Eminem or how good/bad GTA is? That response is way off topic dev. As far as work is concerned, as long as you do your job and do it well, it doesn't matter what else you do at work (breaking company policies aside). Who cares if one reads a forum or some newsgroup at work if it doesn't lower one's productivity? Not many, I assure you. If you want to get into business politics and why having pr0n on your machine @ work is a bad thing, just ask, and I'll elaborate.

So... What you do at work doesn't matter so long as your productivity doesn't drop. However, having pornographic materials on one's machine does matter? Please elaborate, I would very much enjoy adding more oil to this fire

Wow, that was out in left field. I must have missed where somebody said about being scared of homosexuals. Glad they pointed that out. And if you want to make your own forums because you don't like the way this one is ran. GREAT!! I'm sure we don't care if the door hits you. You have a forum and constantly come back to this one to tell people how bad this one is? That screams of 'LOOK AT ME!! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!!' like a 4yr/old who couldn't win at a game with the rules that were in place, so he makes his own rules so he can win. Then has to come back all the time to tell the others how bad their game is. If you don't like it then don't play here. Go play at your own house.

There is no oil. Looking at pr0n in the workplace is considered sexual harrasment due to the objectification of women (and men too).
Get a professional job kid, and you'd understand how things work a little better.

How about a lesson in "common sense 101".
Some people's jobs REQUIRE the use of the internet. For example, customer service representatives may have to research an odd product or try to find a part for someone out side of normal channels. Did that ever cross your mind?
Second, some people surf the net on their BREAK. Guess what? It's still company property they're using, and if they get caught with something inappropriate on the screen, whether they MEANT to find it or not they can STILL GET FIRED.
One more thing dev/null: If you think we're being "nazis" for running our own board the way WE want to then I'll say the same thing I said to Devlar and to Apocrypha: STFU and go away. Either follow our rules, or leave. We're not changing how we do things because a few squeaky wheels want to whine about it when everyone else doesn't seem to have a problem. WE are the admins here, WE are the gods of this forum, and what WE say is law. We hold the power, and we kick the asses around here - not you. Nobody's forcing you to come here, and all the bitching, whining, or moaning is not going to change anything. Cry me a river if you don't like it. Too bad. I'm tired of suffering people who want to tell us how to steer our own ship when they contribute absolutely nothing toward what we're here for in the first place. Go find somewhere else to complain if that's all you're capable of doing.
