Some of these are bloody awesome. The Alien Swarm mod, for example, is a masterpiece.
List of Current and Upcoming UT2K4 ModsRecently, Epic released a video of the UT2K4 Mods that they were showing off at E3. This was to showcase their ongoing competition of Make It Unreal, with prizes and more. Many of these mods are now releasing versions ported to UT2K4 in anticipation of the upcoming deadline for Phase III on June 6th. So, here's a summary of all the different mods.

It is top-down, with each player controlling a person. In single-player games or games with more units than players, you can switch between controlling different units and the other ones are bots (computer-controlled) that still obey you. It seems to have gotten quite the positive response from the shack, and for a first release is very polished.

It has a variety of gameplay modes including races, capture the flag, beach-ball hockey, and more. It previously won in Phase II for best use of physics and best non-FPS mod. Beta 3.0 is slated for release before the June 6th, the Phase III deadline. This features bots in single-player mode too.

They've released several betas and are working up to their 2.0 release. It's unclear whether the 2.0 release will come before the deadline.

All sorts of great stuff is in there including lasers (OMG) and X-wings. Sadly, they haven't been able to add legged vehicles such as the AT-ST in yet. They are currently quashing out bugs in preparation for a release before Phase III ends.

They are working towards a 1.4 release for Phase IV, but will be releasing an incremental update containing the port to UT2K4 and some new content, numbered 1.36.

Air Buccaneers is a mod which features big battles between floating airships. Its kind of steam-punk, with cannons, swords, and more. They're working up to the Beta 4 release and have released a trailer. This features bot-support.

It appears to still be active and the website claims a port to UT2K4 is ongoing. However, I was unable to locate any specific references to a release coming up for Phase III.

It's round-based, but you can respawn in waves within rounds with a limited number of respawns per-rounds. It has pseudo-realistic gameplay, with deviations from reality to ensure that it's fun. They plan a Beta 2.0 release before the deadline.

It features several different gameplay modes including Race, Tag, and a sumo mode where you try to knock the other marbles off the track. They are currently porting to UT2K4 and may release, although there doesn't appear to be much activity on their site or on their forum.

The shackhype is not so strong with this one, with complaints of lack of polish and realism. However, it is arguably the most ambitious mod out of this list. They just recently released version 2.0 and it is unclear whether they will turn around and have a bugfix release before Phase III closes.

There are two different sides which have different kinds of weapons. You choose a loadout of varieties of armor, weapons, etc. It also has the wave-respawn technique. It plays a lot like a platformer, with one player controling a spy and the others being Guards who have to stop said spy. Each side has gadgets to help them accomplish the mission such as fake minispies, objective grabbers, and spyglasses. A port to UT2K4 is in progress.

It features both Deathmatch modes as well as a "plant the bomb in the enemy base" mode. It features a advanced, peaceful culture vs. a bunch of warmongering homeless Borg people. Or something like that. They're currently seeking beta-testers but it's uncertain whether they'll release soon enough to make it into Phase III.

The Community Bonus Pack is a collection of many maps, and some additional player models and mutators. Highly recommended for great eyecandy and some good gameplay. Shackhype is positive on this. They released Volume 1 a week or so ago, and released Volume 2 today!

They released a version a few days ago, and plan on releasing a service pack to fix bugs before the Phase III Deadline.
