Deathmatch is pretty funny, you got the "stealth" idiots who try to crouch in the corner and snipe, then you've got the morons who just run around in circles trying to get people with the pistol. No one really knows how to play because it's not quite Quake and not quite CS. It's like the winner is just the lesser of 4 idiots.

Gnam:  I think another problem is you probably have a lot of new players who don't hail from the Doom/Quake/Quake2/Quake III Arena era.  If this is their first experience with deathmatch then they're pretty green and are going to get sledgehammered by the old-school players.  Now I've not seen much of Doom III myself (deliberately), but from what I understand being able to aim dead accurate is a lot more important now due to the per-pixel collision detection than it was when you just had to clip the bounding box with a stray railgun shot.
