When I start a new server it says
Menu File Not Found: ui/hud3.txt, using default.

Looked all over the manual and FAQs, couldn't find this one.

Can you verify the following information?

The file "autoexec.cfg" exists in your generations folder

The following statement exists in the file:

seta ui_menuFiles "ui/menus.txt"

Also, be sure you're using a shortcut to start the mod.  There is another mod that sets ui_menuFiles within q3config.cfg in baseq3 that is causing this problem.  The autoexec.cfg statement SHOULD take care of this problem when starting via a shortcut, provided the file exists.  If autoexec.cfg is missing, please refer to the readme.txt included in your generations folder or reinstall the mod to correct the problem.

First of all, check the pk3 to see if hud3.txt exists. Then check your baseq3 pk3s for any rogue files that might disrupt this. And lastly, DON'T YOU EVER, EVER DISMISS THIS MOD. Sour sporking grapes.

patience, quake 3 can be finicky when you've got a ton of mods.

You might also try clicking that link up at the top for the IRC chatroom so you can get help rapidly instead of waiting for people to MAYBE stumble across your post.

I had the same problem reinstall Q3 even though it works!  It fixed the error for me.   Thumbs up!

CS is a game where al the cheaters or dumbasses come together to check out who of them got the best cheats ( aimbots wallhacks and stuff ) and see who can get there name on top with there aimbot .

those who do not use cheats are there as bonusfrags you can take out .

Don't mind GK there, he's just doing his usual thing.

CS isn't all that bad.

The playerbase sucks. Especially on public servers, it's a gigantic mess. The average game seems to be a competition of most-unbalanced-teams guinness record attempts and you can't do or not do anything without being called "cheater", "newbie", "asshole" and the like.

I've found the game itself to be quite entertaining, when played with friends in balanced teams. Using proper tactics and normal weapons (ie. not sniperfests), it's actually fun to play.
If the aiming code were to be a little more toward quake (right now it takes a full year of play to master aiming any one weapon due to curious & 'realistic' kickback features), it could be a tense and realistic shooter. As it is, it's just way too unfriendly on the newbies. Either you were in from day one (the early beta's), or you'll never make it out alive.

The netcode is not great, but seems to have improved since the early beta's (which was when I gave up trying to get kills with ping 80). There are hardly bugs left in the game, which in light of the HUGE amount featured previously, is quite frankly amazing.

That said: it's not for me. I like running around jumping of cliffs railing or rocketing in mid-air. I'll leave the 'realism' for others to endure :]

Not a very fair statement, having never tried it out.  Do you judge books without having read them?  Anyway, if you're still around, and still looking for a fix, do this:

Go into your generations folder.
Open q3config.cfg
Find this line:

seta ui_menuFiles "ui/hud3.txt"

Replace it with this line:

seta ui_menuFiles "ui/menus.txt"

That WILL solve the problem.
