I liked it. Easily the best of the new trilogy, and nearly as good as some of the original.

Ok, so you have an opinion but are unwilling to expound upon it, which means you didn't like it but can't or won't offer any reasoning for your dislike. This means nobody here can relate to your opinion, which makes it completely irrelevent. On the bright side it does mean you're not posting any spoilers or sharing any in-depth plot details.
Oh, and I say the movie rocked, and I can give some reasons why it rocked, spoiler-tagged just to be safe:1) Lightsaber duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, and what happens to Vader. 2) The planet at the end of the movie where this duel took place. It's very fitting for someone "going to the dark side" to finish the journey there. 3) The acting for Anakin and Padme were much better in this one. You could actually believe the characters more than in Episode 2. Anakin was more believable as a Jedi, even if he still was a whiney spoiled bastard. 4) It does bridge the first two episodes with episodes 4, 5, and 6.
It was a good movie, I didn't see any real serious reasons to hate the movie. There were a few "convenient" plot fillers, like the bit with C-3PO at the end, but it kept the cheese dialogue to a minimum. It had great special effects, acceptible acting, and a decent story, and it connected the dots. Perfect? No, but I don't see any reason to hate the film.

"Wah wah wah, I'm not a Jedi Master, wah wah wah, I'm going to cry about it in front of Samuel L., wah wah wah, I'm supposed to be one of the most powerful Jedi/Sith in the Galaxy and I'm being a sporking emo kid." Give me a break. Let me ask you guys a question. If you were a Jedi and had the ability to sense other peoples' feelings/intentions, would that not include the ablility to sense a conspiracy involving MILLIONS OF CLONED SOLDIERS?! This movie was overflowing with utter bullshit. That's why I felt, during my first post this was not worth my time to expand upon. But since you forced my hand bird, I have no choice but to tell you why you are amiss. And by the way, one can discover better transitions in my colon. Update: Actually, check this out. I just stumbled upon it. http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.....cgi?u=episode3

Wow, what a whine-fest of a page from someone who is just a hatemonger for a fictional movie series. Now how pathetic is that? Let's take a few points in turn. First: That link has some spoilers so anyone who hasn't seen the movie is now warned.
f you were a Jedi and had the ability to sense other peoples' feelings/intentions, would that not include the ablility to sense a conspiracy involving MILLIONS OF CLONED SOLDIERS?! Let's see, one thing that struck me from Episode 1 is when Yoda, Anakin, and Obi-Wan are sitting next to Palpatine (not using spoiler tags because everyone knows he's the freaking Sith Lord anyway, courtesy of Episode VI) they did not sense that he was. Reason? As Yoda put it, "The Dark Side clouds everything". Look at how powerful he was, just as powerful as Yoda. Could Palpatine sense Yoda was alive in the fight scene after he was knocked over at first, or after he disappeared down the chute? Ever cross your mind that powerful a Jedi or Sith could mask their presense if they really wanted to? Seems pretty logical to me. Regarding Anakin's conversion to the Dark Side, are you DENSE? Is the page author denser? Look at what he did in Episode 2, he was already tempted and started down the path. All Palpatine did is play on his emotions to give him the final shove. Killing Dooku was the second step down the path, the temptation just brought him over, not to mention whatever mind tricks Palpatine had been using on Anakin the whole time they were friends.
Oh sure he's a whiney bastard, but you know what? There are a hell of a lot of whiney bastards out there in real life, and seeing the ultimate bad guy start out as one, I think, kind of sends a nice subtle message to all the little ungrateful, selfish brats in the world. It also is just another facet of his lust for power. It's tragic, but in a way it makes you want to see Obi-Wan spork him over in a big way, and we do. There's a lesson to be learned here, maybe that's why it annoys so many people. "You'll get yours, Benny!"
About the Padme choke scene: no rationalization is needed, he lost his mind during a psychotic episode and his anger was ruling him. You don't have to be a Sith to do this, average modern humans do this sort of thing every day. We just call it Domestic Abuse(tm). I addressed that abomination of a page only because you seem to echo its sentiments. Now let's get one thing straight - I'm no Star Wars fanatic. mecha is the Star Wars nut. To me it's just like every other movie series. I will, however, apply my brain to something before dismissing it, and I'm willing to be forgiving when I watch a film as long as I am entertained by it. I don't watch something like Star Wars and critique it like it's some kind of high art. It's a freaking movie! I also don't see how my viewpoint is amiss because, to me, there are logical reasons to explain everything you're attacking. There are plenty of things in the movie that are worth criticizing, such as the awful droid chatter, but so far you haven't brought any up. If anything you've picked some of the worst reasons to attack the film precisely because they're easily explained.[/color]

Star Wars nut?!? I was until I saw what complete dorks tr00 Star Wars fans are. Maddox generally is right about most things... the things he's not right about are The Matrix and Star Wars. now I've seen all 3 prequels in the theater, and as much as the WTF?!? factor was up during 1and 2, I didn't have that with 3, and I was thoroughly entertained by 3 the entire time it was going on. if you want a credible source (sorry brother Maddox) for Star Wars-dom, visit my LJ. I deal with whiny sporks like you towards the end of my last entry, McDeth. OMG LUCAS IS A SHITTY WRITER!!!11!!11 OMGZ11! LoLz http://www.livejournal.com/users/mecha187/he has more money than you. he was an innovator. he can re-release his films as many times as he wants, and millions of people will still buy it. why? cause Lucas is a bonafide marketing genius. now know your role and stfu.

I'm going to agree with Pho here for the most part. (rampant spoiler tags, just in case)Episode III was a vast improvement over I & II, however there were a few elements that forced it to remain inferior to the originals, IMO. The droid chatter was indeed annoying... Why do they make random beeps? They're obviously controlled by something other than audible sound, as they dispatch without seeing their targets... Yet they still beep and blip and bloop spontaneously. Also, the droids screaming as they were sundered by light sabers doesn't make sense - the forces that created them would obviously have no inclination to mess them up with something as volatile as emotion, therefore they wouldn't feel pain, and would simply cease to function when sliced. ... to ward off those who would say the same about R2D2's noises, I say this: R2 beeping is another matter entirely, he's simply communicating with C3PO, and the humans around him - who do not have the benefit of a more efficient means of communication. I also found the dream sequence special effects to be rather tacky, reminding me of something from a "B" sci-fi movie from the early 70's... but perhaps that's just a subjective issue. The dialogue of Anakin and Padme (between each other, and with others) dramatically improved with Episode III, but there were still some parts that seem like they tried too hard to develop a sense of attachment with the viewer, or something of that sort... case in point: "You look beautiful" "It's only because I'm so in love" "It's because I'm so in love" "So, you're blinded by love...?" so cheesy I almost gagged in the theatre. This bit of dialogue alone shaved about 1/2 point off my rating of the entire movie Still, it stands head and shoulders above I & II. I don't think I even saw Jar Jar, other than in the background of a scene or two, where I almost missed him entirely. The depth and exposition provided by the scenes on the wookie home planet were well-done, other than the crossbows that shot lasers... wtf was that? The dragonfly fighters were cool though!

the wookiee bowcaster is common. he uses it in ROTJ if I recall. so it's nothing new. if you played any of the Jedi Knight games, they were always in those too. consider it the SW shotgun, since it has a spread. hah

To be honest, I was disappointed in Episode 3. I still view Episode 2 as the best of the series, but there were aspects about 3 that I enjoyed more than 2. For instance, the dialogue exchanged between Palpatine and Anakin throughout the film was among some of the best dialogue in the entire series. I wouldn't go so far as to say the downfall of Anakin was entirely believable, but I would say that it was very convincing. Now for my criticisms... My problem with Anakin's downfall is two-fold. One, the whole entire relationship between Padme and Anakin has been way too forced throughout the series, and I found the gap of time between episode II and episode III to further compound that. People may bitch about Anakin being a whiny, emotional brat, but if blind love is his downfall, then his intense attachment to Padme should have been delved into more or at least shown more readily in a simple scene such as Anakin freaking out over Padme tripping or something along those lines. Secondly, the other major catalyst for Anakin crossing over is him being torn between duty and Jedi code. In Star Wars lore in general, the Jedi are notorious for keeping people in the dark in order to protect them, but it generally winds up screwing them more than it helps. Anyhow, Anakin might not have been thinking clearly after knocking off Mace Windu, but he should have had second thoughts about killing all those people in the Jedi Enclave. Remember how he said that he shouldn't have killed Dooku? Jedi don't kill their enemies unless forced, Anakin would have been judged for his crimes and at worst, exiled. The fact that Anakin accepted so readily when he was so strongly attached to the Jedi code, kills a bit of the believability for me. Granted love overpowered Anakin's better judgement, but here again, the whole attachment thing could have been done better in my mind. Now on to a minor gripe... Going back to the large gap of time between Episode II or Episode III... Who the spork was General Grevious? I shouldn't have to watch a cartoon series to learn about the background of an important character present in a movie. Hell they could have at least explained or hinted at what happened to the bastard for him to become some kind of quad-lightsaber-wielding cyborg. Oh and the one sentence explanation to answer "What happened to all the fighter droids?" was bad, but I'm not going to dwell on it much. It fulfilled its purpose. And I liked the droid chatter even though the R2-D2 scream was a bit overused. :p My gripe with the prequel trilogy as a whole and where I start to devolve into a tired rant... The whole damn trilogy has been rediculously over the top in terms of special effects and extraneous scenes. Episode 1's pod race was too heavily focused on to the point where I felt as if it was being pushed as the highlight of the movie which really contributed nothing to the story-line other than Anakin winning his freedom if I remember correctly. And my god, Padme's hairstyles and outfits... (The whole of episode 1felt as if Lucas was attempting to sell me a car while continuously telling me how shiny the car is.) Episode 2 had a horrifically low live cast, (I'll take puppets over CG any day,) but it at least had enough sense to save all the major CG for one epic battle. Episode 3, on the other hand, made every battle epic, even ones that were totally arbitrary and used as transition scenes. That really hurt the character development in my mind, and it also disrupted the pacing of the story. The only good epic battle was the one we were all waiting to see, Anakin vs Obi-wan. The light-saber choreography also seemed noticably better, but then again, the two characters involved in the fight were both live actors this time. I am a bit biased when it comes to Star Wars, because I did not care for the original trilogy, but I still respect it for what it was. The reason why I like Episode 2 so much is because it combined all the aspects of the series that I enjoyed, Jedi mythology, light-saber battles, and a great sense of character development. There was a shit load of fan service as well, namely getting to see Yoda fight for the first time.

Granted love overpowered Anakin's better judgement, but here again, the whole attachment thing could have been done better in my mind. I actually found it rather believable. Granted, it could've been done better, but not only is Anakin's judgement clouded by love, but also by his friendship with and trust in Chancellor Palpatine. Prior to Anakin's pledge, the movie clearly showed Palpatine using every chance he could get to make Anakin question and doubt the Jedi Council. Anakin always had an ego, and Palpatine stroked it well by both offering praise of his own, and recalling and emphasizing the Council's apparent doubt of Anakin's abilities.
The part where Anakin killed Dooku I think was a turning point - Palpatine's social engineering had started to take root in Anakin's mind, and with a simple and rather superficial reason ("He's too dangerous to be kept alive"), was able to gently guide him towards the path of the Dark Side. Yes, my entire reply was in spoilertext - deal with it

Uh... ever see Sarumon in Lord of the Rings? Christopher Lee always looks half-dead. That's just how he is. It's been a while since I've seen him in any other film so you're probably right heh. Was he in the first Lord of the Rings movie? That's the only one I've seen, and I don't remember it all that well.
