WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush chose conservative appeals court judge John Roberts on Tuesday as his first nominee to the Supreme Court, igniting what could be a fierce partisan clash over his drive to move the closely divided court to the right.

Indeed.  I find it amazing that Charles Schumer is already demanding the judge answer questions relating to his personal views regarding certain hotbutton issues, which he knows full well he can't do because it would later require the judge to recuse himself from such cases if he goes on record.  Oh yes, and Reed is pining that Rove isn't on the front pages of the newspapers anymore.  Politics, politics, politics.  I think he'll get confirmed, but it'll be mudslinging all the way.
