Do any of you guys get this? They're really going over-the-top with their ad plugs where they don't belong.

Marketing. It will be the end of us all.
I visit my own site. I get some ugly brown screen, with a HUGE ad, and a tiny link that implies that one can click it to get to planetquake..
Oh yes, that'll look good when a game company tries to take a look at my portfolio. Very professional. Gamespy is close to the edge.

Tab, why dont you just host your website with wirehead? tabun.wireheadstudios.org or something. Zero ads, etc

The reason I hooked up with Gamespy/Planetquake was to get some recognition and, mainly, hits. Back in the old days, making a huge update to the site would be a reason for PQ to make a newspost about it on the main page. It used to work when there were less users there. Since GSpy went all main-stream, they started sucking more and more. There's only two reasons why I'm still with them, and not using www.tabun.nl and a paid server yet. The first is that many people know where to find my site. I've had PQ/Tabun for _years_ now, and anyone keeping track of my portfolio is bound to remember it. The second reason is that.. well.. it's free. The latter is also why I haven't really bitched at the whole situation much. Slowish speeds I can easily accept, the ad problem warden quotes above, is really where they crossed the line.

If you're offering to host my site for free, then by Thor, thanks and the webspace is always welcomed. If we're talking a paid contract, then I'll have to think it over, I'd have to do some research when it comes to that, anyway.

If you'll notice, Tek is using Firefox. There are some things Mozilla just can't stop.

Be that as it may, not even the best script in the world could prevent the webserver loading up an entirely different page than you actually requested..

That says enough right there.  USE ADBLOCK.

Yeah, same here. I don't know how, but AdBlock kills those as well. It is truly the best extension ever made. Ever.

Edit: Of course for it to work to its fullest, one would need the crazy list of bans that Con here has created, but thats not hard to get.

In fact, I shall upload it for you!!

Once adblock is installed, go to Tools/Adblock/Preferences, then click on Adblock Options/Import Filters. Point it at this file, and you're good to go!

These filters get about 98% of the ads on the internet.
