On the subject of sounds, if I may be so bold, you really need the Vengeance scream in there!

I'm the same. Is there a site to help us? Me and Bane are on summertime now.

I can't make it until at least 9pm Eastern time on saturdays. 8pm on Sundays.

However, on a Tuesday I could do it whenever.

I can't do next Saturday unfortunately.  I'd love to help you out though Tabun.

If I may just make two suggestions...

I think you should probably make the Euro server  password protected for that game to prevent a random guy from joining in and saying, "Hi guys!" or some other friendly greeting.  Plus, there really wouldn't be a good way to go about informing the new player of what's going on.

Utilizing the Team Speak server (is that still up?) might be a good way for everyone to vent their need to talk. Slipgate - Smile

Sorry I couldn't make it, I rushed back and got on about 12.30.

Teamspeak. Why doesn't anyone use it? Why type when you can talk and shoot at the same time? (I am a really slow typer, not due to hand speed, but due to dylexia, I have the hands of a guitarist, but typing in a game takes me out of it for too long. Why I never talk much in game.)

Its still up, at  69.93.136.72   just checked it out.

There was no 'big-game' yesterday, only 4-5 attendees, so you didn't miss anything. It will probably happen not this or next week, but the week after, since a few peeps have already acknowledged that they'd be able to join then. And it gives others some more time to find this thread.

I don't use teamspeak for several reasons. One is that I feel like a nut talking into a mic when I'm fragging, another is that it takes up some bandwidth that I'd like to use for whatever game I'm playing, yet another is that I have no headset. Admittedly I don't use a whole lot of team messaging, so that might be why, too. In clan games I used to play, I had special binds with useful messages, like 'Quad back in 20' or 'Defense is weak!' etc.

I see. Thanks for telling me the game was off. I'll look forward to the right night then.

I thought that teamspeak only used about 9k/s? anyway, the mike thing doesn't bother me. I use one often with my PA system so I don't notice it anymore.

Do you have a map or two in mind for the vid that we should be running around to find out where things are like?

Angst's dead simple remake (red2m7, if i'm not mistaken), is one that will definately be used. It is both nostalgic and a big open arena, which is perfect for this kind of thing. Other suggestions are still welcome.

Maybe q3dm17 will be nice for a short(er) bit, because it's so popular among Q3'ists..

I'd go with those maps, along with perhaps:

Earth: Dunwich
Slippy: Dark Zone
Strogg: Frag Pipe

Hm, I fear not:
wdct Dunwich: rooms, hallways and vertical madness: no good.
Dark zone: rooms, hallways and vertical madness, the central arena is nice, but too cramped.
The Frag Pipe: rooms, hallways and vertical madness, the central arena is nice, but way cramped.

For promoting Gen as a nostalgia mod those maps are fine (although I'd rather pick a wolf3d style map, not Dunwich) - but not for huge games like this one. I'll do something else to promote other/normal maps.

yeah i use a mic normally i can't be bothered though as nobody else is

but i use roger wilco

and well.   it never effects both my ping or my gaming

so if anything it would probably just add to the game

Me, rick, chara and others have found that using Skype in the background does not use that much extra bandwidth...and we still have a consistent ping (for me that'd be 53-60ms) without packet loss thanks to Tabby's tips.

It's also good quality...although I tend to clip a microphone/earphone set to the top of my t-shirt and use my headphones :}  - it should also be pointed out that I've never used Skype beyond a 5 player game (including myself in that count).  But I haven't noticed any skippyness in other players.  Not to say there isn't any, just that I haven't noticed :}

Regards,

Yickle.

Not everyone has the same perception, connection and system as everyone else, obviously: I've known people with relatively shoddy connections, who claim not to notice 50% of their bandwidth being claimed by kazaa and whatnot. Fine for them, but I do :]

I use ventrilo on extremely rare occasions... but I rarely talk much when I do use it. It's just to listen. That way, people can tell me stuff and I'll still hear it. But *shrug*... I don't talk much.
