These are BFG's only, and only from Id games, though I threw in the new Arena BFG for good measure.  So vote already!

The new Arena BFG in Gen fits my play style more than the others do. Shoot it and forget it. The others take all these other factors into consideration when determining if they hit or not.

This goes so far that I suck badly with the BFG9000 from Doom. When I use it, I have to keep my view still.. in the same direction that I fired.. makes it easier for me to see who is going to get hit with the 'flash', but also severely cripples my aim and movement (try running around some maps by only running forward and backward, and strafing left and right.. not easy). If I don't do that, I'll miss the flash every single time.

Also never used the BFG in Doom 3.. so I'll just ignore it.

The Generations Q3A BFG kicks every other BFG's arse. No points for nostalgia, but sparklies and adding something unique in Generations only = zee best.

The original Doom one was kind of clumsy and awkward in the way it fired it's massive blast, which made it seem even more powerful, so I'll go with that one.

I vote Doom BFG, strictly on the idea that I love Doom (and the fact that the game invented BFGs)  Doom - Thumbs Up! Doom - Thumbs Up! Doom - Thumbs Up!Doom - Love = - (Banging Head against Wall)

While I do like the BFG9000, the new Arena BFG is far more practical.  Plus I love the impact sound the little energy balls make.

Please note that the aforementioned impact sound is a 1.0 feature.  Kain is a beta tester.  Slipgate - Wink

BFG 9000 from the original Doom series.

I mean really, if had enough ammo you could destroy a locust Brumak Cyberdemon with a few succesive hits. I remember that took me out of so much troubles...

Aye, they'll make a noise when impacting something they can explode on.

I had to vote for the 9000 because it's the original, though I'm pleased to see the positive feedback on the Generations Q3 BFG.  Nobody has asked for the old "spamcannon" back so far, and I'll admit that whereas before I hated using the Arena class, any map there's a BFG on I hope I can pop up as an Arena Gladiator once in a while so I can play with the sparklies!

Aye, the Q3 BFG is now what it should have been in the first place: something a decent player wants to get their hands on and use with gusto and style. :]

Q3's BFG is the best one of all times, hands down. Powerful, fast and cheap in terms of ammo, resulting in the perfect assault & kill_all weapon in the history of videogames. In second, however, comes Generations' Q3 BFG. Sparkles are that useful!

No, he voted for the Q3 Spamcannon, Boot.

Lopson:  But it's not a real BFG if you think about it.  Take a look at the history:

BFG9000
Huge energy ball?  Check.
Massive ammo consumption?  Check.
"Neat" room-clearing special effect?  Check.
Massive carnage potential from a single shot?  Check.
Pre-fire delay?  Check.

BFG10K (From Q2)
Huge energy ball?  Check.
Massive ammo consumption?  Check.
"Neat" room-clearing special effect?  Check.
Massive carnage potential from a single shot?  Check.
Pre-fire delay?  Check.

BFG10K from Q3
Huge energy ball?  Check.
Massive ammo consumption?  Fail!
"Neat" room-clearing special effect?  Fail!
Massive carnage potential from a single shot?  Fail!
Pre-fire delay?  Fail!

Sure you can kill a lot of stuff with the Q3 BFG, but it just doesn't fit the pattern.  It's a big, powerful gun, like a plasma-rocket launcher on steroids, but the "F" is missing.  I will not say the gun is not effective at killing things, but it just lacks that one-shot, all-or-nothing sensation of carrying around the equivalent a portable tactical nuclear explosion set to green.

That's true, Q3's BFG isn't exactly a conventional BFG, but it's so overpowered that it's ridiculous! Sure, it lacks the "F", but it compensates by making the "G" the main letter of the name. Fast and powerful, what else could you ask for in a gun?

Boot:  Actually you can use a dmflag to enable the old Q3 BFG.

Lopson:  That's the beauty of Generations.  No shortage of choice in armament!
