New server should be up soon for generations.  It would have already been up, but the debian install for the dedicated box is giving segfaults left and right.

Looking forward to the new frag spot.  Hopefully that segfault problem won't be too hard to pin down.  I've had fresh OS installs give me fits before and had to start all over from scratch.  Very much the pain.

Lots of corruption (wget killing me) and then one final pk3 among a bunch which was continuing it.

Server is up at 64.120.153.214:27960

I put the tabun_q2guard in there by mistake, so it probably filled up the server.

It's the bot script.  "MG Guard", "Light Guard", etc.  The space means when the bot is added the server can't kick it.  So every time it's added, it adds one more bot to the server.  Eventually the server is full of * Guards.

It has to do with the way Q3 was written to autokick bots.  I rewrote the routine to do a clientkick instead of name kick for 1.0.  Come to think of it, I should probably put together a small server-side patch to address the bot name issue and the random map rotation problem.  An sv_pure 1 won't autokick for a missing .pk3 on the client end.  The server-side patch would be a separate .pk3 with just the qagame.qvm so clients wouldn't necessarily need it but it would be recommended for local play.  Let me know if that's of interest since it'll be a while before 1.0 is done.

It is possible for any player to kick the bots by doing a /callvote kick allbots and it will clear the bots from the server and let them autojoin up to the bot_minplayers limit, so that's one workaround for the time being.

It's the same as it was before -- same config.  Pure server still be off.  I just removed the pk3.  Server doesn't need the skins, and with pure server off, it'll allow the clients to load it if they want it.

Well, the other issue was the map rotation bug.  Randomized map rotation was a large part of the reason I wrote the maplist system, and it's been broken.  If you use g_usemaplists 1 in conjunction with g_mapsort 1 or g_mapsort 2, it would reshuffle the maplist on every level load instead of completing the maplist.  I have that fixed.  The patch would address both these problems.  I've already compiled it, I just need to test it out on my server and I can post it for download.

Edit:  I've tested the patch and it's working fine.  News has been posted along with a download link.

There server was down for an hour or two just now.  I was creating individual users for each server and setting up a bunch of other things that needed to get done.

I don't really have time to check, but the old server should be down by now.
There is a new server at:
173.45.67.108:27960

I didn't set it up.  I didn't have any time to during the week, so I don't even know if it was setup properly.

We moved because there were reports of random lag spikes on the old one.  This one is in Ohio.

Just giving you a heads up.  I am currently testing another box in the same network as the current server.  It looks like I'll be switching, but I'll make that decision tomorrow.

We may or may not be keeping the same IP, and the server might end up being down for a little while during the transition.  The test server is running at 173.45.68.209:27962 (with tons of bots -- doing a stress test on the server with multiple servers running with a bunch of bots in them).

Last night's testing went well, with a pretty smooth feel on the server.  If anyone can hop on the test server tonight and hop around a bit to see what your opinions of it are, it would be helpful.  Again, both are in the same datacenter and running the same OS, binary, and mod setup (I rsync'd everything between the servers).

Looks like he did break it somehow.  The other servers are still running.  It looks like it crashed during a map start loading the bots, but there's no sign of why.  I put it back up.
