Oh My F'ing Gawd  Fainting  Hail OH-MY-LORD! This is a stereo file! No Dolby, no Virtual, no 5.1, no 7.1 . Just plain-stereo! Amazing stuff.

It's a well documented stereo effect that's been around for quite a while now.  It predates "Surround Sound" by a few decades.  It's just not very commonly used.
