OK so I bought this new screen, so I went to the nVidia control panel and forced all resolutions to run in 75Hz, but, for some reason, most games ignore that and run in 60Hz. Any suggestions?

Most games? Which? D3D or GL?
My UT99 is stuck at the refresh rate of 85, but I've never heard of what you have.
What graphics card?
Is the monitor CRT?
I don't believe it!!! now UT2004 has started limiting to 85 frames per second.
But only in online play.

OpenGL, but not all games. Some somehow run in 75Hz, and my new monitor is LCD. This only started after switching monitors. Strange. Phoenix, I doubt that there is such cvar for games like GTA SA or MDK2.

I believe so, but there is no reference to such anomaly in the manual.

I know CRT's can push upward of 140Hz. I tried 100 at 1024x768 in a gen game, and it went pop, so i stick to 85 at the moment, even then my iiyama is away for repair. |

But I locked all the refresh rates at all resolution at 75Hz, and even if I had locked at a higher refresh rate, it would just say : "Out of range".

My LCD can push 85 hz at 1024x768.

Not all, and not at every frequency. Overranging a frequency can damage or destroy some monitors. The really nice ones have built-in safeguards and will blank the screen and drop the signal with this happens to prevent damage.
Kruzader: I don't know what to say. If it's somehow forcing the refresh down to 60Hz, even with overrides, it's either something specific to the game, its bypassing the driver, or its choosing a refresh rate you don't have locked in. If all of them are locked at 75Hz, and you're sure of the settings, then I'm at a loss. I have not used an LCD monitor myself, I can't stand them, so I don't have any answers. |

My old Veiwsonic 21 inch (that had recently went out) could push 140hz. It was a really good monitor and lasted 8 years.

My Helen has desided she wants to change to a flat screen. I asked her why? she said 'it looks nicer'
It would probubly be better for her eyes, but it could cause problems when we use it to play Gen if I get the lads around on a saturday, depending on the resolution. I know UT99 does not like 1200x1024, as its not on thier 'settings' list of resolutions. we will see.
I like 19" CRTs myself. I use a Hansol, a mitsubishi and a iiyama, which is currently away under garantee, due to just popping and the picture going.
the old medion did the same, but i got the money back after having it 11 months.(so i bourght the iiyama).
I would like a flatscreen, but I like the resolution of 1024x768, on a 19" screen. 1200x1024? not for me. And if I had a dead pixel, I would do nothing but look at it out of the cornet of my eye all the time. It would really piss me off.
I'm with the bird on this one.
