First off, nice place. Second, my friend suggested I ask here.

Right straight to the point. I need some serious help.

I got a dedicated server, and after waiting 2 weeks for the account details I made an account in the IP's Cpanel and had my domain directed to it.... it didn't work. After some tweaking from my mate the domain started working at last. But now I got a new problem.

1) I can't get into the ftp unless I type the address without the ftp prefix.

2) At first I made sub domains from either the Domain Cpanel or the IP Cpanel and both registered the subdomain and made a folder for it and a cpanel log in... but they didn't work. It's as if the subdomains don't exist. You can access them with a direct address e. www.domain.com/subdomain/ but not with the actual www.subdomain.domain.com subdomain address.
This problem has now got worse. I told the host who provided the server. They sai they'd fix. Now the same thing still happens in the domain Cpanel, but if you make it in the IP cpanel now it registered an account and thats that... no folder or anything.

Whats going on? Why arn't my domains working right, why can't i get a subdomain working?

PS.
I'e also been getting these emails off the server!

IMPORTANT: Do not ignore this email.
The hostname (S143-154.iicinternet.com) resolves to .  It should resolve to 64.193.143.154.  Please be sure to correct /etc/hosts as well as the 'A' entry in zone file for the domain.

Some are all of these problems can be caused by
/etc/resolv.conf being setup incorrectly.  Please check this file if you
believe everything else is correct.

You may be able to
automaticly correct this problem by using the ' Add an A entry for your
hostname ' under ' Dns Functions ' in your Web Host Manager

I would say either you've not set up the hosts file correctly to reflect the proper DNS resolution, or else your provider has a buggy interface.  You probably need to get ahold of their tech support.

Also, subdomains often don't use the www prefix.  A lot of times it's something like subdomain.domain.com, not www.subdomain.domain.com.  For example, our main site is http://www.wireheadstudios.org.  Note that our bulletin board is http://forums.wireheadstudios.org, not http://www.forums.wireheadstudios.org which, if you click that, will pop up a note saying it can't be found.  Just something to keep in mind when dealing with subdomains.
