So you're bored with reading .plans, .99f seems a bit dated, and you wonder just what the hell has been going on behind the scenes?  Where's all that eye candy and promise of animated guns?  Is Gen 1.0 going to be so much vaporware?

While 1.0 is still a ways off, I felt it only fitting to give you a little tease of what's to come in honor of our new forums.

My GOD! See.. now THAT'S the kind of tease I was looking for for a LONG time now! The blood and explosions look spot on for Slippy and Strogg. The small gun teasers are awesome.. and the Earth gat looks badass now. Who knew hands holding a gun could make it look that much cooler?

Makes the wait seem that much more worth it for me.

Aye.  Now if only I had more people willing to beta test and help me find bugs.  That would make things go along a bit quicker...

I'm willing to, but I don't have much time and don't know about beta testing. Slipgate - Disappointed

What exactly do i have to do to beta test it? Just play and tell you if anything goes wrong?
If thats the case i can do it.
Actualy, I have three computers at my house, and we play lan all the time, so we could all just run the version that you want tested, and i can tell you what happens

That was mainly just a jab at SpAwN (now known as Thomas Mink) since he's very fond of Quake 1.  I do have a sufficient number of beta testers but they're just rather busy with real life stuff at present.  Slipgate - Wink

Wow....I need to go change my pants.

Everything is amazing!  Bravo!  I love the particle effects for Quake and Q2 (especially with the bullet "shells").  The Red tint when your injured for Doom is a great touch.  And I certainly like the way the Earth Gat is held now.  Props all around.

And to think those shots don't even come close to that actual animation... it isn't called a tease for nothing! Slipgate - Wink

Haha yes I was about to mention that.  From what we can see, the animations look great.

How about a teaser video?  Slipgate - Wink

I've never done video capture before I'm afraid.  I wouldn't know where to begin.

I can do it, if we want. Making a short promo-video would be no problem for me. I'd just have to collect some nice demos, rip a few bits of them and compile them into a teaser .avi...

The easiest way to do it is with Fraps, however the trial version only allows up to 30 seconds recording time and doesn't allow sound (Not to mention that it adds a nasty little watermark, ugh). If you want a free video capture utility I'd suggest searching on Google or, if you feel like being a pirate (yarr), look for the full version of Fraps via torrent...but I'd go against that idea.

FRAPS is nice, but can be choppy -- freeware usually has shortcomings, too. I have other means at my disposal, including using the built in Q3 command for outputting an image per frame, and I usually edit using Adobe Premiere (that is, as long as it doesn't crash on me Slipgate - Wink).

Well, I did say easiest. I never said anything about Fraps being the best. ;P

Oh.. that was a jab? Sorry for taking it seriously then, lol. (or was that the ruse? Tricky little bird.. lol)

Q1-wise tho, I didn't think there would be much to look at.. but now I dunno after seeing those screenshots. I mean, the animations are probably the most simplistic of the classes (minus the gladiators, of course).. only real animation is the axe swing. Wasn't expecting new blood effects and such. The new HUD will be the icing on the cake when it gets completed.
