http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg/ Site.
http://iwbtg.webserver1.snip.net/iwbtgbeta(slomo).exe The game itself.

This is quite possibly the most difficult game I have ever played, ever. Battletoads has NOTHING on this...

Yet, I'm some how addicted to it. I've beaten the third boss, and have 677 deaths at the moment.

Yeah, it is a crazy game.  I am the kind of classic gamer that needs to beat a game, and if this game didn't crash every few seconds on my pc, I probably would be going crazy in it.  I've watched full play thrus of it on youtube, though.

I found out about it from the videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfnYiEmYhIc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ji45xVUoWzA (part 2)

while looking at:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6204903272262158881&hl=en

Some bad language in these, but for some reason I enjoy watching people play through hard games.

Really reminds me of Soyoban Action, only longer and with stuff from other games.

Makes me hate Shy guys, Tetris, and mike tyson...

I'm toying around with it on medium (I'm quite fond of the little ribbon, thank you very much), because I'm not hard-core enough for anything tougher than that. I'm more of a fan of nethack-style hard-as-hell-ness, but this is fun for a change. I didn't further than about 4 screens from the start yet, though. :]

I've been stuck on the 1st boss for quite some time now, can't seem to time its movements right. This game requires an awful lot of perseverance and patience, but that's what makes this game special.

BTW hard isn't that hard Tab, just a tad frustrating because save points are quite far from each other (usually 4 screens). But hey, if you're the kind of guy who likes ribbons, then don't hesitate, just go with the medium difficulty. ;)

Lack of savepoints makes it hard for me. To keep playing, that is. I've never really been a part of the ultra-punishing days of donkey kong and other early platform games, so I've never grown used to the idea of having to do something a hundred times before you master it, then doing it a hundred times again until you master whatever follows. That just fires my "you have more important and fun things to do, Tab"-trigger. :]

Add to that the glitches that can kill you even if you play perfectly.. and I'll just stick to as much savepoints as I can get..

This hasn't received any attention for quite some time!  Has anybody achieved "Guy-hood"  yet?  I'm fighting the Guy at this time.  Well, getting kicked around by the second form in any case.

Bah, got tired of the game, frankly. I have far more attractive games to play, like Silent Hill 2 or The World Ends With You.
But man oh man, you actually played it all the way to the final boss? Your perseverance amazes me. Good luck with The Guy!

I "gave up", too. I had a lot of fun struggling through part of the game, but if I really want an insane challenge that stays fun, I'll just play Guitar Hero on Expert. :]

The follow-up to fourier's linked review of IWBTG.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-gjVati1Ok

My GBA is trashed and I no longer have my ROMs for the classics, but the desire to play has been sullied by this monster.  Especially anything related to Dr. Wiley (Castlevannia being a close second)!
